With the intention of possibly going as far as a FBO C8 I did 3 runs on an eddy current Mustang dyno. This type of dyno is known to be a "heart breaker" as the numbers are generally lower than expected. They definitely read lower than a DynoJet.

Mine made 417hp and 396ft.lbs. It was cool and dry and the shop is likely no more than 500' ASL. The best we can get for pump fuel here is 91 and even that has proven to be optimistic.

Over the winter my intentions are to add a TB (possibly a PTR IM), headers and the AFE dry intake kit. I have the Z51 exhaust and for now I plan to leave it nor are we going to touch the tune for the time being.
For the cost I'm very leery about the PTR IM but it's just so damn PRETTY!

My guess is 15-20hp increase after everything is done. Likely comparable torque increase. Worst case scenario it'll sound better.

A C8 in stock form can hit 0-60 in 2.9 seconds
An Eray in stock form. 0-60 in 2.4-2.5???

Full bolt on stingray with another 35 rwh, maybe 0-60 in 2.8 seconds provided you grip???

I guess just do it for the sound. How many actually go over 70mph legally. Probably none of you, worth it? Up to the owner, personally I like the sound that headers make on a V8, plus you get added torque.

Have a V8 truck pulling a trailer? Set of headers will add quite a bit of torque. I think race proven motor sports did a Tahoe or GMC and got like 70torque. Check there you tube videos.

The sound is a bonus. Part of the reason of doing the work which many of us enjoy is to help personalize the car plus I do at least one standing mile race per year and as many track days as possible. Granted small HP increases seldom help much with track times but it never hurts.

Fiqure 12.5 % drivetrain loss. These cars typically do 435 to 440 to the wheel in low altitude. 435 + 12.5 % = 489 horse, 440 +12.5 % = 495 horse

Bolt ons work. Look at the fast guys posting up ET’s and dragy times. The complete bolt on cars kill stock cars every single time. So … they work very well together.
One or two bolt on’s maybe not so much. All together your C8 Stingray is as quick as a stock Z06 !!

Putting headers on a car the came with headers is pointless. You might move the peak up or down the curve by changing the length of the headers but that's about all. The cats aren't that restrictive so paying for high flow cats won't gain much either.
GM didn't leave much on the table. You are going to have to get inside the engine or boost if you really want gains. This 6.2L is putting out almost as much power as the 7L LS7...

Have you modded your C8? If not, have you track tested your C8?

Yes, a tune will definitely help you take advantage of the mods you have already paid for.

I have a few more mods but dyno'd 538. FF going on this month and hoping to add another 40 HP.

Genuinely curious where this statement is well documented.

I picked up 100WHP with bolt ons and a tune. I cant tell you how much each individual bolt factored in to that 100 as I did them all at once so yes it is a possibility that my headers added 0 but am going to assume that is unlikely.

What mods? That's significant for just bolt ons. Who tuned the car? I saw minimal difference in track time on road course with headers, intake and exhaust.

Build: Haltech CAI, LPE 95mm throttle body, LPE intake, TSP heads and cam, AFE ceramic coated headers, Corsa NPP exhaust

Elite Speed and Performance did the tune. I dont use Facebook or would post the link but pics and vids are on their Facebook page.

DSX FF going in this month so am hoping to end up close/r to 600. Likely 600 is optimistic but injecting some realism the hope is 575.

You should fix this, your later post said heads/cam which is most certainly not bolt on's.

Also flex once heads/cam will net about 15'ish wheel unless you milled the heads a lot and flycut. Once you do a cam they are not as timing sensitive on pump gas.

Not an argumentative response but what would you label heads/cam? I have bounced back and forth between Camaros and Corvettes to JDM. Most of the JDM folks seem to use the generic label of bolt ons or FBO for anything that is not bottom end or boost.

Given your shop and expertise can you explain why the Camaro guys seem to pick up more than approx 15HP when adding FF? Your statement seems to hold true from a different post that stated 533HP and 556 with FF but given the generalized statement that an LT is and LT is an LT how do the Camaros seem to be more responsive to FF?

Thanks

Bolt on's are always referred to external modifications. IE headers, cai, intake manifold. Once you crack open the engine those are not bolt on modifications.

On a true bolt on car flex is worth usually 25-30 wheel over 91 octane on the LT cars. Once you do a cam which bleeds off cylinder pressure you are less timing sensitive on pump gas therefore ethanol gains less. Unless you mill the heads a lot and run a thinner head gasket.
