When the car is cold reverse is not an issue. When the car is hot reverse shudders. Any ideas?
Forward I drive in Z mode and other then the normal shifting stuff it seems fine I have 850 miles on it
No shuddering. Any chance its just hill hold feature? If on slight hill in D or R the car my apply the brakes (the actual brakes not the EPB, but it will eventually apply that too), and when they release there can be a bit of a jerk.

What gets me is that it only does it when hot. I know the forward gears are a bit jerky etc I get that. But this shudder is a bit drastic and only when hot. Any suggestions ?

If you can demonstrate it take it to your dealer.
Are you on a level surface with the wheels straight when this happens?
You're driving in Z-Mode, when the overall 1500 mile break-in period is still in effect?
Have you driven it in a "spirited" fashion (Z-Mode can lend itself to increased engine and drive train stress) since day one?
If so, perhaps the transmission has learned some irregular shift points, and other aggressive performance settings/defaults.
Not sure why it would pick on Reverse to display any aberrant behavior it's learned.

Break in is 500 miles ?
I don’t drive hard but I don’t drive like it’s not a vette
I suppose I could drive in my mode because I don’t like the car going into D4. I wish I could just shut that off period.
I don’t assume that pertains to any specific driving mode. I put the petal to the floor a few times after the 500 mile break in periods. Had to see what it can do and I am thinking reverse will be a program issue. We will see after the dealership on Tuesday

Correct. Search the manual for "break in" and try and find a caution in the manual about using any specific Driver Mode before or after break in. You won't. There are cautions about rpm, aggressive or spirited driving, Launch Control, Full Throttle Starts (which is spirited driving) - but nothing about actually selecting Z, Sport, or Track Driver Modes. Z of course is customizable anyway. There are no cautions even about the setting of any of the individual customizable settings in MyMode or Z-Mode. With two exceptions. Engine Sound - don't set it to Stealth for Track Use and Competitive Driving Events - because it might damage the Exhaust Flow Control Valve actuators. And the other - Weather Mode is not intended for use when the vehicle is stuck in sand, mud, ice, snow, or gravel".
Track Drive Mode is recommended for Track Use, but it it also says "Use when maximum vehicle handling is desired." Some interpret it to mean "Use only on the track", but it does not say that. To put this in perspective, consider what it says about Weather Mode: "Used for slippery surfaces to help control wheel speed." Does this mean you can "only" use it on slippery surfaces? Of course not.
My point was that, to me, the mention/use of "Z-Mode" implied either "spirited" or "aggressive" driving early on, as that's why it exists, to allow customization/personalization of the Sport/Track options for higher performance use. That said, I can't imagine why anyone would use Z-Mode to "detune" the performance related options in the Customization Options for which it exists. Hypothetical: "I set "Z-Mode" on my new SR to use all the "Tour Mode" performance settings" - said no one, ever.
Nothing more than that. Of course anyone can choose any Driving Mode, at any time. That wasn't in question.
Also suggested was that the "petal" (sp) was "I put the petal to the floor a few times after the 500 mile break in periods. Had to see what it can do" put to the floor a few times before the "be kind to your drive train, break-in" period was up after 1500 miles. Page 189.
My concern is/was the "appearance" that there may have been some drive train abuse, early on, which might be used by a GM Service Tech/Department as a loophole for denying any related warranty coverage, when problems with the drive train appear coincidentally, early on. They'll have the "black boxes" history to examine, and/or may have OnStar vehicle diagnostics history, as well.
Hopefully not, but we won't know until Tuesday. If at all.
