Has anyone had any issues tying into the rear view mirror for power for their detector?
I did see a mention that the it could affect the left exterior mirror function.
Many short harnesses for sale to do this.
Looking to find a safe feed for my 2024 Z51 vette.
Thanks for your opinions.
Be careful which wire you tap, it is a commonly seen boo boo on these care to tap the wrong wire and it cause the driver mirror glass to disfigure glass.
I've had my Escort MAX3 installed with a BlendMount + WireTap for 3 years and it's been flawless. The key is making sure you tap into the correct ground in the mirror harness.
Just be careful when you put the Blendmount wires into the plug. These pics may help as will my PDF that covers what I did for 3 years then my current, used for a year on my 2020 C8 that I moved to my E-Ray. This is my PDF with many Pics covering all installs in C8 and E-Ray: netwelding.com/Radar_Detector_Power.pdf
Be Careful. No Issue If Done Properly. Hard to see black wire. No way as clear as Blendmount Pic, especially when sitting backward on passenger seat! Easy to see Red Wire. My suggestion, from Red go down to lower row and over One place left- NOT Two
Had for 3 years in my 2020 C8.
For a year on my 2020 C8 used dash mount. Moved to my E-Ray in 5 minutes.

As you can see from the responses, it can be done safely - but there is another thing I think should be disclosed, There is a bulletin about it and basically if you have mirror problem and have that tap, it instructs them not to submit a warranty claim for the repair - and they will not care whether it actually caused the problem or not. So, there is that.
