Default HTC Carbon Bucket upgrade

I got my Recaro Podium’s installed. They look pretty good I think. They are quite difficult to get out of, as you would expect. Very comfortable at least.

Sadly, the HTC refuses to work without all the seat modules on both sides. To remove all the wires there must be at least 12-15 christmas trees, but it’s not too crazy to eviserate the seat guts. You can’t get the last big yellow connector out unless your seat is adjusted just right. I got lucky with the passenger side, but my driver’s side is stuck. I’ll have to get a 12v power injector so adjust the seat motors so I have enough space to get the last connector out.

No one expected race seats in a HTC.

Should save 90 lbs or more. -124 for the seats. These are 12 + 8 for the mounting brackets.

One more project nearly complete

I used the AMT motorsports ultra low brackets with the sub belt bar and the VetteWorks anti-Submarine Anchor Bracket, to clip the other 4 harness belts to.

Since the seat doesn’t slide back and forth, once I got the seat where I wanted it, I took out the rear seat bolts and then tipped the seat forward to tighten the big rear mounting bolts to the floor. Then you put those two bolts into the rear of the seat.

There is likely a better way but I couldn’t figure out how to mount the recaro sliders to the corvette floor mounts. At least using www pictures.

Vivid racing had the seats.

Thank you!

Im trying to figure out how to install my Racetech seats. I want sliders, its just easier getting in and out and the amount of give with sliders is something I can live with.

BBI makes a plug and play option that I have on my 992 GT3RS so Im looking for somthing like that.

Amazing set up by the way.

They look great, but I'd never get my wife in the car again. Even worse, I might never be able to get OUT of the car again!

Hate to ask, but they’re pricey, right?

Know it’s a little bit of an older thread but was curious how you made out with your HTC and the track? I’m prepping mine now for Watkins in a couple weeks and am running into the same issue with top not working / codes thrown when I remove the seat. I’d be ok with the codes as long as it’s ok to drive but prefer not to and having trouble finding info on this topic. Thanks

Make sure you index your windows. You have to count to ten at the top and bottom.

Take out your seat harness/modules. Then hook back up your seat harness and all was fine.

There’s no codes. Just the ABS light is on since we removed the seat airbags. I don’t
even get the front collision (or is it module) warning.

DM me if you get stuck.

Many thanks my friend.

I have the GT2 seats and just looked under. See (1) module per seat. That sound right? And just the harness and module to keep the computer happy?

Yeah take out everything connected to the huge connector in your GT2 seat. You’ll want the front of the seat to be up. Then the connectors will fit under the frame.

You’ll unplug all the connectors and then 12 xmas tree things holding the wires in place.

Once that is free…plug the harness back in to your car and shove under your race seat. Voila the roof will work.

You need both seat harnesses sadly.

Anyone here letting go of their OEM driver seat? I've been looking for a GT2 / Competition upgrade w/ heat & cool to replace my GT1 seats. It's the only real thing I wish the car had (bought used).

YESSS NOT ALL HOPE IS LOST. JUST WORKED ALL DAY GETTING MY BUCKET SEAT AND AMT LOW MOUNT INSTALLED. HTC DIDNT WORK SO I HAD TO DO IT ALL AGAIN WITH THE TOP UP LOL.

Anyway, I appreciate this post so much. Going to remove the harness from the oem seat and plug it in.
Any other advice?

I removed everything from the factory sest. 4-5 connectors are empty from the motors and swtches/airbag and the modules stay like they were. Take that whole mess and plug back in under your race seat.

I wrapped mine up with cling wrap to keep half neat.

Ahahah I did it last night in about 20 minutes. Now I have my HTC back with racing seat and 6 point harness! It was quite easy to remove the harness.
