Default Track use tire size

I have been tracking my 2023 C8 with both the stock wheels/tires setup and a Apex wheels and RT660 setup of 255/35R18 in the front and 305/30R19 in the rear. I bought the Apex wheels expecting to do more Autox and then fell in love with track days so very rarely do Autox now. I drive my car to the track and am wondering what sizes are best for track use? Stock size or wider? Also, my car is not stock now and is pushing 680whp. Any recommendations on sizes or tires? Tire availability is also a consideration as it it quite limited in the larger sizes. I was thinking of getting the Apex SM10RS in 18x10 and 19x12 with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3Rs in 275/35R18 and 325/30R19s. I looked in the forum for this info but it was mostly just wheel sales. Wanting some expert opinions on this. thanks JJ

I had sm10rs wheels on my c7. They were great, and I went with apex's recommendations for tire sizes. They usually work out what works best for street and track, including if the wheel/tire combination rubs or not.

I just ordered the VS5RS in 18x10 and 19x11.5, I’ll be running that same tire setup.

I presume this is a Z51? With that much power, I'd also be worried about the powertrain longevity as well as cooling. Road course track is much more demanding than autocross on the powertrain. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend V09 mod for cooling.

It is a Z51 and have a large intercooler installed. My biggest issue was shielding everything from the increased heat but have installed Heatshield everywhere now.

I ran 295 front 325 rear and it was a great balance. This was with MCS coilovers and AFE sways as well dramatically increasing rear stiffness.

I have X25's BC Forged 18" track wheels for sale if you need wheels. Bought them to run next season but upgraded to Z06.

I was running 255 and 305 as I was autoxing and kept it SS class. I don't autox anymore so I used this setup for the track sometimes but I definitely need a better setup. PM me a picture and stats for your BC wheels. I was looking at buying Apex wheels again, but maybe the BC wheels will be a better setup. Thanks

I am far from an expert so not an expert opinion. I purchased my 23 Z51 as a track car and have been modifying everything I find I dont like at the track.

Currently running BC Forged with Hoosier 295 front and 345 rear.

I’m also running the 275s and 325s on 18 and 19 inch wheels. Continentals in my case. I like this setup because there is no rubbing at full lock, and you can drive to the events.

I had this issue after headers, kept melting passenger side coils and wires and melted quite a few sections of the wiring harnesses, specifically plastic connectors where harnesses connected or plugged into something

Yeah told by the Chevy dealer who picked it up an oil line touched the header and sprayed the wiring causing the fire. Headers were coated, but did no good with the excessive heat. They are now coated and wrapped plus heat shielding will be covering all those wire now.

Asking for help or advice on this now. My engine harness is on National backorder and the car is going to continue to just sit there until we get a new one. Part number is 85635882. Does anyone have any advice on how to get one? Where are they made or who do I bribe thanks! jj

Check junk yards.

PS, I have been told multiple times to never coat and wrap headers. It's one or the other. The combination damages the coating causing it to come off (making it less effective). If you need more, I'd see if you can restore the factory shielding and see if you can modify it to work with your headers.

I am checking junk yards now in fact. Turns out too many of us C8 owners installed headers and it roasting the harness connectors. I coated my headers by a local reputable shop and it still burned through. That ain't happening again though thanks for the advice
