Fact is you will find very little water gets in, same when raining. What does, most goes out the large drain openings in the front sides. What you will find is 2 to 3 oz AND they are needed!
- The large rear fender scoops have lots of air entering to cool the engine compartment. With that air comes dirt and dust. Need to remove from the compartment
- So after washing normally (not foolishly spraying water horizontally in the vents,) just was washing normally.
- After I dry the car I open the hatch
- Pick-up the 2 to 3 oz of water, most in the front with a corner of a large towel
- Use that wet corner to remove dust/dirt from engine cover, flat surfaces etc.
- Use the 90% dry towel to clean off remaining dust
- Total 5 minutes.
PS: I drive my AWD E-Ray in the rain and do nothing! Engine compartment gets cleaned when I wash the car.
