Default Transmission Fluid Change

I have a 2020 C8 HTC with only 12,600 miles. My dashboard shows Transmission Fluid at 60%. I changed my Transmission Filter at 3,902 miles to get it for free.
Do I need to change my Transmission Fluid and Transmission Filter now? I was going to wait until I saw 0% Transmission Fluid on my dashboard. I'm not tracking my C8, only using for cruising, put about 3000miles/year on my C8.

Default C8 DTC fluid change

GM sent out letters stating to change the fluid and filter between 7500 and 8000 miles, I just changed both at 9300 miles. It's every 3 yrs or 22,000 miles whichever comes first Had my regular oil and filter done at 3k because 1st one is free

The maintenance schedule in the owner's manual states to replace the transmission fluid at 45,000 miles OR 3 years, whichever comes first. You are overdue for the 3-year replacement so do it ASAP. Don't overlook footnotes...

Footnotes — Maintenance Schedule Additional Required Services - Normal
(4) Or every three years, whichever comes first. If the vehicle mileage is near the canister filter replacement interval, replace the fluid and filter. More frequent fluid and filter replacement may be needed if the vehicle is competitively or aggressively driven. This service can be complex. See your dealer

It did not state that. It stated that the DCT filter needed to be changed between 7,000 and 8,00 miles. It reiterated that the fluid needs to be changed at 3 years. The DCT filter has no time limit and the DCT fluid requirement is every 3 years or 45K miles (unless you track your car).

The DCT external canister filter must be changed between 7000-8000 miles even if done before (regardless of time), then at 22,500 miles, then every 22,500 miles after, or every 24 hours of track use, whichever is first. There is no requirement to change the fluid at the same time as the filter. This is so easy.

The DCT transmission fluid must be changed when the fluid life monitor says so, or every 45000 miles, or at least every three years (regardless of mileage), or every 24 hours of track use, whichever is first.. There is no requirement to change the filter at the same time. The fluid life monitor does not include time, so the owner must observe the three year requirement.

All of this is required irrespective of the expiration time for the "free service".

I installed a door to access the transmission filter/drain plug. I need to do the 3 year fluid change in April. Does the car need to be flat to drain properly or can I have the rear up on stands? I plan to refill via the access port behind the driver's side rear wheel (same way I added the 2 extra qts for track fill).

In order to get a proper fill you'll need the car essentially level.

Is that just for the fill? Or also for draining? I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach this... ramps, jacks, stands, one wheel off, etc.

Nose down isnt an issue draining of course. Level for fill. I let mine drain for about 30 min as I was doing other things. Don’t think it would take that long especially if the fluid is up to temp which I recommend. Track fill is tilt and fill as “normal”.

TY, that's good news. I wasn't sure if the drain bolt was at the front of the transmission.
