Hello all, my ‘24 C8 Z51 has had a very minor oil leak the past 6 months or so. It is now 13 months old, 1028 miles. I figured I’d get it looked at while getting the 1st oil change. The tech put dye in the system so we can track it down.
Today, the tech diag’d it as a defective weld in the Dry Sump Tank. Full engine/drivetrain to be removed tor the replacement. Part is on a 2 week ETA. Anybody have this happen or hear about it? 🏁

 

Yes, I had a 23 with an oil leak and had the dry sump tank changed and sealed twice and it did not correct the issue. They did not need to drop the whole engine to do that but did drop it a bit. They then determined the leak, although it looked like it came from the sump, was actually coming from the timing cover above the sump. That did require the whole drive train to be dropped while they sealed that up. In the end the car was purchased back by GM because at the 120 day mark they still had not identified the leak. During the buyback they did fix it but it was too late then and they got the car back.

I am a service writer at a GM dealership & we had a 22' Corvette in today for oil leak diagnosis. The technician stated it was from the oil tank but needed to remove engine to accurately diagnose. Found no related bulletins from service information.
