I just took delivery of a 2024 HTC with 1,185 miles. I bought it in FL and had it shipped here (big shoutout to Reliable Shippers, they do great work). The car was a trade-in at a Genesis dealer and when it came out of the van, it had very little gas in the tank.
The problem is, it won't let me put very much gas in. When I go to fill it, I can get about 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon in, but then the gas comes out the car's gas filler like it's completely stopped up. I've read the other threads on this problem and have tried the usual things:
- four different gas stations and multiple pumps
- rotated the gas nozzle both 90 degrees back and 180 degrees up (and varying positions in between)
- fully inserted the gas nozzle and tried varying depths of insertion
- squeezed the gas nozzle ever so slightly
- tried the black funnel that came with the car (that's to be used if you are filling with a gallon gas can)
- tried a 12 inch funnel
If it sits overnight, I can repeat the routine, about 1/2 gallon goes in ok, but then I can't get anything more in it.
I went to the local Chevy dealer and, while they did believe me, they had never heard of it. They are also backed up 2 - 3 weeks, but thought they might be able to squeeze me in some time in the next three weeks!
The dealer said they would take the car to a local gas station and try to fill it. If it doesn't work, they would call "engineering".
Are you reading the guage left to right or right to left? What does estimated mileage say above it? Not trying to be a smartass but recently a new owner was reading the guage wrong.
Please tell me that I'm reading the gauge wrong.. It's not the first time I've put my foot in my mouth, in front of the world..
don't feel bad... we have all done stupid things like that! Most of us have been fortunate enough to not do it in front of the whole world! Congrats on the car and enjoy! You will always have a good story to tell!

Are there any troubleshooting things I can do?
Thanks,

Guessing that they didn't bother to poke their head into the car to look at the guage?
Don’t beat yourself up, honestly the gauge is a bit confusing. My understanding is that the computer will “Learn Mileage Range” based on the miles drive, so the more miles you drive, the range number will become more accurate. My 2023 with less than 2k also has a very low mileage range. I guess that is one of the nice things about the old C3 Corvettes … SIMPLICITY.
I get 5mpg during a track day. When I fill up I’ve only have about 100 miles to empty on a full tank. Or less. Gets back to normal after another fillup as long I don’t have another track day in between.
