ZO6 drivers side tick
He has worked on 2 cars. One repair was successful the other wasn't. The one that wasn't was brought to a different dealer and that repair was unsuccessful also.
GM bought that car back.
I'm waiting towards the end of my warrantee to have mine addressed hoping to give the mechanic more experience.
can anyone tell me what the actual tick is? GM says it's not harmful to the engine. the mechanic is even scratching his head.

cam caps not torqued to spec is the cause.
Dealer tried to fix mine twice and it sounded like a rod
knock the second attempt the dealer made it worse. Third attempt, GM sends out a field service engineer who brought a special tool to hold some parts in place when cam caps were retorqued. It fixed the noise so have faith there is a fix. You just have to get the pico scope to show it is out of spec and then will be a warranty fix.
Mine was also drivers side and correct, the engine does not have to come out.
I understand that retorquing "cam caps" could resolve the problem trying to understand whats actually ticking
cam caps must hold something in place ? like the cam? is the cam loose? lol
GM says it doesn't harm engine if not corrected
Just sounds odd.....noo pun intended
New torque specs I think were advised to try and reduce the clearance.
