What should us HTC owners do to the top mechanism as part of maintenance on our cars? TIA
I looked at mine and saw the gears had some grease on them .......done . I might put some spray silicone on the weather stripping once a year and clean the mating surface if i remember

Anyone find a GM "how to", with recommended oils/ grease?
Gears, cables, hinges, and weatherstrips.
With only 6K mileage, I have not noticed any area of the mechanism building up with dirt/ debris.
I have noticed the weatherstrips near the rear window are not as supple as when new...I assume a lot of heat in that area.
I would be interested as well. I just had my 7,500 mile service done, not sure if they even lubed anything for the hard top. Is this even on the list to do at that service?
I suppose just do your own research as to which product best to use for those area of contacts.
My main concern is finding a better solution for that wirerope that comes apart because of an inferior crimp on certain HTCs. In my observation.
There is no recommended service for it. I never saw any grease on the gears when mine was new in 2021. Any grease you put on them is going to attract dirt and dust and create a grinding compound. If you feel a need to lube them, I'd use a dry lube that won't attract dirt.
