Default C8 Z06 shifting

I have a 2025 c8 Z06.
It doesn't shift into 8th gear when doing 55 or 65 mph, is that normal?

It goes into 8th when going at faster speeds.

Just wondering if that is normal.

Yeah, it won’t let you run under 2k. It even downshifts in M mode. Lugging must be bad for it.

This is not accurate info. It is mode dependent and will cruise all day at 1,600 RPM. Just took ours to lunch today and watched it do it. Steady cruising with light load is not lugging the engine. 2024 Z06 4,300 miles.

Agree with Phil1098 in post 4. Your owner manual has some information on that which you may find interesting. It indicates that an upshift to 8th gear is allowed at 58 mph. If you are using automatic shift mode, then the shift points (still subject to that limitation) will depend on how you have the engine/shift parameter set (options are Tour, Sport, or Track). Also, aggressive driving will temporarily (for a short time) change the shift points. Look up driver influenced gear selection in your owners manual.

When driving my Z06 in tour mode at 65 mph the car stays in 7th gear. I use the paddle shifter to go into 8th. Within a few seconds it goes back to 7th. How do I get it to stay in 8th? Thank you!

I have an SR, not a Z06. But as far as I know, there not another "setting" that will prevent that in Automatic Shift Mode, since you already have the engine/shift set to Tour. So, the way to prevent it, I think, is going to be to select M, the manual shift mode. Looking at the attached chart, at 65 mph in 8 gear your rpm is low-ish. somewhere in the vicinity of 1500 rpm.
