Default DCT maintenance

Hi
I am ready for 7500 mile DCT maintenance. I called 2 dealerships to ask how they do this. They both said they do not change(drain/flush) all the fluid , they just filter what is in the car and top off any that is required. Is this normal procedure- not to drain/flush all the fluid??
thanks

The dealers are correct. Your owners manual outlines how long and when filters and fluids need to be changed. DCT filter 7000-8000 miles, then 22500 miles then every 22500 miles thereafter. Fluid is every 45000 miles or 3 years whichever comes first or 24 hrs of track time or when the DIC says too. The internal sump filter is a lifetime filter.

One thing to ask is if they are going to follow the procedure in the service manual and do a hydraulic system flush prior to changing the filter.

This is assuming you are not at the three-year interval. If it's three years old, it needs the fluid change too.

It may be good preventive maintenance to change the filter and fluid more often.

It may be overkill but im changing both every year.

You'll find maintenance cost on the C8 is pretty high.

Not that bad if you do it yourself. Then you will know the right fluid/parts are used and its done correctly and not by some 20yo who is having a bad day and half asses the job.

True, my response was to someone having the dealer do it.

Default Dct maintenance

I surely don’t have all the equipment to do that myself although it doesn’t look all that difficult. Also, I’m wondering if it voids my warranty since I did that myself

It won't void your warranty.

And yes, you need to read carefully all of the maintenance requirements in the Owners Manual. Unfortunately some of of it is scattered around. And you should also obtain and review the Warranty Manual. Both the Owner's and Warranty manuals indicate that you can do your own work, and both advise you to keep records and receipts for work.
You can find the info at this link on the Chevrolet.com website:

Yes, it seem broken. Just checked it. However, it does work for warranty manual.

Surely it will be much cheaper to do as much maintenance on your car as you can. Plus believe it or not you tend to like the car more because you are taking care of it. Add to the fact that some dealers are less than caring about your prized possession or the price they charge you so doing your own maintenance makes sense. Oil changes are easy but the DCT filter change requires some effort.

There is a video on YouTube for the process of changing the DCT filter with the flush. It does require the purchase of some tools. An Elite 510 or 710 will walk you through the process. Just record the whole process with copies of the receipts for the filter and tranny oil you have to replace.

The knowledge you will gain from doing your own work will instill confidence in maintaining your Vette.

Luckily for DIYers, the "flush" is not a requirement.

Default DCT maintenance

Hi,Yes, I worked on all my cars as much as I care to do through my whole life, brakes, oil, change, alternator’s radiators, etc. I’ll do my oil change on the Corvette, however, to do the DCT change I’ll let that be done by the dealer.Thank you for the info

You will do a much better job than the dealer.

…yes and no…if the dealer does the DCT filter change, they do it, but when Tadge was asked about it at one the bashes a couple of years ago, he said the car does it during regular driving, so the do it yourselfer doesn’t HAVE to do the flush if they change the DCT filter…

…the flush just runs the fluid through the filter again before it’s changed, but the fluid goes through the filter during regular driving too.,.
