I haven’t bought it yet, but the Paragon Mag Ride socket grabs the nut only. Looking at their video on installing lowering springs, they don’t show any other tool to hold the strut rod. It also doesn’t look like their socket leaves enough room to use a wrench to hold the strut rod.
The OEM tool has two pieces to do this. What’s the solution with Paragons socket?
Especially a strong/heavy impact can 'hammer" it without accelerating the shock's shaft.. You can then put it back with it, and torque it when the car is on the ground, loading up the shocks..
I used some 1/4 thick rubber, and a Pair of Vise grips. this allows me to hold the shaft not 100% locked but pretty good. THen hit top nut with impact small hard hits. you DONT want to spin the shaft fast or long inside the shock
Great idea making your own tool, but I have the Mag Ride wire sticking out the top. I’ll try the vice grip to help keep it from spinning.
I had thought about this before, the solution would be to attach flat bar stock to the pipe plug socket just like the other homemade tool. Wire could then pass through.
