Default how to lose weight?

wondering if anyone has started down the road to make the C8 lighter? I'm at 3467 stingray z51 lift and mag. How did you do it? I'm looking for carbon fiber door, kinda like the race cars have.

Race car or still for street comfort?
I have seen other posts asking a similar question.

Titanium exhaust, Li battery, race seats, mag rims.
I'd guess this would be about a 70lb loss.

Not sure how much carbon doors, a carbon engine lid, and
fruck lid would add up to in weight loss.
Race car? Carpeting, stereo, ie strip it

Good luck with your goal.

Will this be a track car only ? I foresee many issues with dash warnings from the body control module at the very least and crash protection loss from some light weight things .

track car, need to offset the weight of a cage. Would love to be around 3000? think that is going to be next to impossible though.

.

CF doors will save you 30 lbs. (will need cage)cf hatch w loss of struts 20 lbs , cf seats 80 lbs , ccb rotors can save you 40 lbs . Exhaust/cat deletes/headers w coating can save upward of 50 lbs depending on what you pick. After that it gets expensive. I’m around 3240 or so depending on fuel level without me in the car and losing another 200 lbs would be very difficult . (Z06) but if a race car the interior bits all are heavy (the glovebox alone ) I bet you can get 3100 pretty easy w gutting the car and the above mods.

Magnesium wheels and 2
pc rotors will shed about 70lbs of rolling weight and improve performance. Lithium battery -25lbs, if your going racing take the frunk out -25lbs. I think guys have removed the passenger seat for 85-100lbs

So far here is my list;
Lithium battery -25 lbs
EBC two piece rotors -10 lbs
Valvetronic Ti Exhaust -40 lbs
(on order) MP Forged Mag wheels -40 lbs
(with new wheels) non ZP PS4S's -18 lbs

All total about 133 lbs, about the same as tossing your GF or Wife out the window (not recommended).

Not a simple question. Results vary dramatically vis a vis removing rotating verses static weight. I'll give you the results from what I did with my '24 Z06 and '26 ZR1, although it impacts any other car exactly the same way.

I changed my forged factory wheels to the worlds lightest magnesium wheels (all wheels of a certain type are never exactly the same from different manufacturers, plus each may use their own unique metal formulation, which are also 1-3 lbs lighter than carbon and not subject to the formers damage propects created by a small rock. The weight savings was about 63 lbs total for all four wheels.
The result is that it makes the engine (in whatever vehicle) perform acceleration as if the car weighs some 300-500 lbs lighter. That is a dramatic result. Unlike the same reduction of static weight produced a very minimal gain. So the gain is in 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. but has no impact on top speed as aerodynamic drag takes precedence. This is separate and unrelated to the acceleration reduction due to the approx. 40 lbs of rotating weight savings from my carbon ceramic brake discs.

All that is well and good but I don't want to ignore the not insignificant cost factor. Depending on wheel size, and mag wheels not quite as light as mine, the pricing is around $10-13k. This info is for my wheels, 20x10 and 21x13, on both cars.

Keep in mind that my wheels also provides braking, handling, and steering benefits.

Hope this info provides some answers to your question.

You can also get 75 lbs off the exhaust (actually more depending on catback) with titanium cat deletes, titanium non muffler catback and kooks headers (-5 lbs). My paragon catback was 13 lbs. Stock is over 60 lbs for catback.

I can't confirm yet but I have CF rear quarters from Anderson composites. Suppose to drop 2 lbs a side but I havent confirmed this yet. Not worth it for the price but just throwing that out there.

Also swapping every bolt/nut you can as well as lug nuts to titanium drops weight. I dropped almost a 1 lb with undercarriage titanium bolts. I probably have dropped at least 3-4 lbs in titanium hardware by now (need to go back and add it all up, including the lug nuts)

Deleting the frunk is 12 lbs before adding in carpet and the side trim pieces.

I really dont think the money cost to weight lost is worth it at all. the big items that weights alot yes. But then again a good driver will blow the doors off of a car that weights 300 lbs more on just a good avg driver. Hope you hang in with it for the long haul..

All I’m gonna say is just hope you aren’t racing my car at a dragway or on a racetrack with a stock z06. 100 lbs rotating mass isn’t the same as off the body of the car. Weight loss isn’t just weight loss it has to be strategic in locations that are unsprung first then moving to sprung areas high up on the car to lower center of gravity. You won’t understand until you ride in your car when it’s 300 lbs lighter and over 100 lbs of that is unsprung . The braking , the handling, the acceleration are all drastically improved. Every single Motorsport since the dawn of time has used weight loss as a way to win races. Just look at the construction of a formula one car. Even the best driver in a non competitive car is going to lose the race. Max verstappen won’t win driving for Aston Martin . The delta between the drivers is too close.

if you have time go watch crash n burn about Tommy Byrnes. He was probably better than Senna as a driver but due to financials and personality clashes was never able to win in formula 1 despite multiple formula 3 championships and even beating Senna with his own car. He got thrown into formula 1 in a non competitive car (car was too slow to qualify )and that was the end of his career basically.(this is TJ’s dad by the way that works for Racing Sports Concepts. TJ can DRIVE)

Brandon just saying here yes a drag 1/4 is a little diff than a track car on the weight, only saying here unless you are going to make a full race car 100% the 100 to 150 lbs will not make a diff to it, if you have a really good person in a car that does it all the time and has raced on that track. to a person that only does it maybe twice a month in the good weather. The cost is just not worth it.

if not planning on competing (road race or drag)then no it’s not worth it. If wanting to be competitive in road racing or drag racing I think it’s a must and more important than any engine mods. (More important in road racing than drag. ) The cost part is really person specific. In reality nothing about sports cars makes sense financially .

You got that right for sure. It has to be in a person DNA are it not.
