Default Future C8

What are the odds that the Future C8 has the same or very similar 4 electric motors (1000 hp) that are going to be in the hummer?

Not very likely. EV platforms are different from an ICE platform. I don't think they can make an fully electric Corvette using the current platform. The best thing would be a mild hybrid Corvette and a fully electric would require a future GM EV platform, maybe something for the C9 but certainly not the C8.

There has to be a transition.

Look at MB, they dropped the V8 in their C63AMG with a hybrid 4 cyl with a max ouput of 643hp.

Now idk if GM will follow the same route or they'll just quickly go from ICE V8 - hybrid V8 - FULL EV.

But what i do know is that the progression to get to full EV seems pretty damn awesome. I'm starting to like the concept of hybrid since we can't do anything about the lost of ICE cars in the near future. At least we can still enjoy engines as a hybrid.

Mercedes always kills it! Amazing engineering!

No. I want a real hybrid PHEV. 150+ hp on the electric side.

I think there is a combination of ice and electric motors already being developed/deployed for the C8 already. I was looking towards the end of the C8 or possibly the C9. The 1000+ hp for the C8 has been mentioned and the Upcoming Hummer already has 4x250 electric motors. It seems adapt to the C8/C9 is GMs model - lift reservoir brings back memories. So does its fit. Lol. Aside from the chassis, the Frunk will possibly be lost, but the engine area would become available too. We shall see.

I'm almost certain we will NOT see a full EV in the C8 lineup. The only chance of that happening "would be" the ERAY but all "rumors" suggest it's a hybrid, not an EV.

I think the drastic change from the C7 to the C8 was to pave the way for the inevitable hybrid - EV transition.

The C8 platform is the template for it, meaning probably the C9 will probably be EV, or at least towards the end of THAT generation.

Years ago there was talk of having common standardized base powertrain platform, with the shell and appearance depending on the users' tastes or needs.

I could see this happening with EVs, especially with virtually everything being controlled by computers on board, including drive by wire.

As production becomes more automated, this suggests the possibility of an arbitrary number of customization options when you order.
This could also open new aftermarket businesses doing post-manufacture shell changes.

The C8 platform does not lend itself to a full EV.... I think if will remain ICE/Hybrid.....

But I certainly see the possibility of a full, high performance EV built on the GM platform branded as a Corvette to compete with Tesla S/Taycan space..... normally one would expect this to be a Cadillac, but I don't know what Cadillac is anymore.... they will have a luxury SUV.

I think the Corvette brand would give such a car more street cred.... but it will be a line extension.....I still think there will be a two-seat sportscar based on the C8 platform for at least 6 more years.....

ZERO.

One or two motors can go in the front.
Only 1 motor can go in the rear.
So the option is 1 motor up front with a differential or 2 motors up front without.
The motor in the back will couple to the DCT which already has a differential.

For me, a full EV just isn't an option. And that is not me being a Luddite, its the reality of my situation and use cases.

Now, a hybrid? I could easily get behind that idea for a sports car as long as it can run the track for 30+ minute sessions without burning itself up. Hell, I see no real reason they couldn't combine a turbo diesel with a hybrid, I'd trade my 3/4 ton in on one if I can still haul as much as I do not for as long as I do.

Who knows, they might end up using the Camaro nameplate on another electric SUV

Camaro is not a strong enough name since it is now last in the pony car wars. Corvette and Caddy are the premium names and the electric SUV is going to be a premium product.
