Default Clear Tail lights?

Nothing pointing in that direction so far but maybe it’s not necessary for testing? I loved them on my C7Z, but don’t know what it will look like with the new design.

Clear tail lights are played out on some cars! They should go for a completely different looking taillight. Maybe a little sleeker or thinner running across the entire back. The taillights on the C8 are probably the worst part of its design! They just don't look that good imo. It's such an easy fix. Hopefully they'll surprise us for 2023 and especially the Z06 and change them or slightly modify them.

I don’t know if clear tails were ever used enough to be “played out” but they def looked better on the c7 then the base ones. I think the C8 lights would be improved if they also incorporated some more clear to them.

I'm sure the aftermarket will offer us clear tail lights if GM doesn't offer them from the factory.

so far the aftermarket is offering only the cheap blackout lenses!! And honestly its not something that I would consider

And hopefully gm brings the c8z with a clear taillights or at least offer it as an option like what Porsche is doing now

They needed to differentiate the C7 Z06 from the C7 stingray and C7 GS is why I figured they did it. The new C8 Z06 will have wider hips, different exhaust position, different rear diffuser, different rear vents, and different wings besides sounding different as well. That's quite a bit really, more than we've had in the past. So it wouldn't bother me if the tail lights differed as well, but I wouldn't count on it. It has a lot going for it already though.

I am going to guess they will be clear.. if there are no part shortages for clear taillights when the car comes out.

Just read an article that several GM SUVs are losing NVH exterior under panels to cut cost and because of shortages.

More and more content being removed by every mfr.

Terrible time to be an auto enthusiast.

The best of times and the worst.

I prefer the red to be red on a taillight while everything else can have a dark smoked lens. The clear thing looks cheap. But knowing GM they will follow the C7 and do a clear lens for the Z06...hopefully they are swappable with the stingray so I can have my red lenses...

I never owned a C7Z, but my base Stingray Z51 came with the Z06 tails that the first owner installed. I loved the look on my white car. I hope they do it again for the C8Z.

Story was that they were mocking the car up and had clear/grey lights in place and Reuss liked it so much he asked them to put it into production.

Clear in my eyes reminds me of Honda Civics running around w/fart-can exhausts. Then again, I do not understand people who tint their taillight lenses dark tint thereby reducing their visibility when they are turned on or brakes stepped on. Reduces overall visibility and increases danger of being rear ended. With all the kids running around texting, selfie-taking while driving I want the brake/tail lights to get their attention.

Oh, and the rear of the C8 is my least favorite part of the car.

Agree about the "smoked look" but on the camaros tails the lenses are clear but the background is black giving it a dark look without blocking the light

Really wish they were available in a less tinted version. Their Camaro version was lighter and looks better to me with certain colors, especially Rapid Blue. These C8 versions almost look like someone tinted the OEM taillights. The Camaro version looks more OEM to me.

yeah to me these C8 ones just look off. Why aren’t they like the C7z ones?

I am in a different state than where my car is at the moment, but you can create any shade you want with "wrap", and then change as the mood strikes.

Not really sure I follow… wrap the taillights? I wasn’t referring to the car paint, just was saying I prefer the lighter grey taillights the vendor used on their similar C8 inspired Camaro taillights vs the darker tinted C8 version, especially with a Rapid Blue like color as pictured.

There are various shades of plastic (wrap) material you can put over lights. I have been doing that on my cars for years. Can be easily taken off and exchanged. Go to wrap shop and inquire.
