Default Comp seats

On the fence about ordering comp seats, what’s everyone’s thoughts? I plan on going with sky cool grey interior and just found out the seats are black if I go with comps vs. Grey with GT2’s. Hoping they change that being the take rate on comp seats should be higher for the Z06

IMO Base seats suck in a sports car, I had comp 2 seats and with all that power I am comp seats minimum.
4 Levels
Base seats with no power lumbar support in 1LZ
Base seats with power lumber in 2LZ
Comp 2 all power
GT seats most aggressive

I'll be ordering the GT2's as I am only expecting 4-5 track days/season.. The wifey accompanies me on road trips, cruises, etc, so I need to seats that provide the most comfort, while keeping me snug during my track events. If necessary I'll replace the driver side with a proper recaro seat.

I am going with the Competition seats. I like a snug fit and a slimmer person (5' 7" @155).

I have the same interest in the comp seats, but I feel like this is absolutely a question only you can answer after experiencing both seats. Without that ability, I’d personally err on the side of caution and order the GT2’s. I prefer a snug fit but I’m also 6’3” 240lbs.

Comp seats are a must for me. In the past, upgraded seats seemed kind of pointless so I never bothered.

But then I got a car with factory Recaro seats. Some sort of comp seat is now an absolute requirement for me. I love all the extra support. and having a tight fitting racecar looking seat just makes the car feel more special when I get in it. I don't think I would want them in a daily driver, but in a weekend toy I love them.

I'm also pretty thin build, so fitting in them isn't really an issue for me. For bigger people they could be really uncomfortable.

Im 6'4 275 lbs...Comp seats WONT be comfortable on long runs. I adjust the sides and lumbar to compensate if I need that extra snugness. Its not the same but us big guys gotta do what we gotta do!

I'm going with GT2. I initially was going to do Comp seats, but after watching the YT video, I think Gt2 works for me. Especially since I won't be able to sit in them pre-purchase and I won't be tracking the car. However, once thing still givesme pause. I'm a thin guy and am worried that the GT2 seats may be too wide for me. Anyone happen to know the width between bolsters on the GT2 seats?

I remember the power adjustable side bolsters on my BMW 335xi years ago. Those were great, but I could adjust them anytime I wanted. Can't do that w/comp seats. Great, now I am back on the fence.

I have GT2 now and most likely will opt for Competition seats in the Z06. GT2 in the mountain runs, I feel like I could use more side bolstering.

If you're going to track the car a lot, a good seat is huge bang for the buck. I'll likely go 1LZ with comp seats and later upgrade to spherical control arm bearings, stiffer sways, stiffer springs, and AP racing brakes... make my own "1LE".

I love the comp seats in my C8. I do HPDE track events and for me it is a must. I am a 5'6" and about 230 lb guy. Not a small guy but I love the tighter feel on the track. Cornering on the track is sweat with the comp seats. A couple of months ago I experienced the GT2 seats at Spring Mountain with their C8s. I prefer the comp seats but the GT 2 seats are fine if you only going to spend a day or two a year on a track. One thing to note. If you do short trips often in your C8 do not get the comp seats. The bolsters getting in and out may drive you crazy but for me I have gotten used to the large bolsters for short trips--a bit of a trade off.

Are you referring to the back or bottom bolsters? As I understand it the back bolstering is the same on the GT2 and Competition seats.

I'm 5'8", 150 lbs with a 29" or so waist and have the competition seats in my C7 Z06. They're fine but I wish they had a bit more bolstering. I haven't sat in the C8 base seats but I did sit in the C8 GT2 seats and they seemed similar to my current ones. I then sat in the competition seats and found them to have significantly more bolstering along the thighs. More than I expected actually. And I was told by the owner that the bolsters were adjusted all the way out. If you're much thicker than me, then I'd assume the competition seats would be fairly uncomfortable.

I have the comp seats in my C8 and I love them. They make the car feel a little more special and exotic. I love vigorous backroad driving. Did a long one today actually and they certainly hold me in VERY well so I can focus on driving.

That being said, I'm a very lean and fit 5'9" and 167lbs. AND they are kind of a pain in the *** to get in and out of. I use the entry/exit feature that moves the seat forward and back when getting in and out of the car.

If you want convenience, get the GT2's. If you want something special that really holds you and you're on the smaller side and don't mind a little inconvenience with entry/exit, the comp seats are a great choice.

GT2 for me. Comps to tight, 6’ 225 gym rat. If they were a bit wider I’d definitely consider. Would be nice to do the sit test before ordering. Thanks for the posts including your size.

I am 6' 2" / 185lbs. I test fit in the comps and I don't find them too tight. I will most likely be getting Comps. I have thigh bolstering on my race car and it is hugely helpful.

I’m 6’3” 220 I work out so I’m pretty wide upper half but the recaros in my gt500 have very very aggressive bolstering upper and lower and I’ve gotten so used to them that I wouldn’t want another high performance car without this type of aggressive seat. The seat bolstering mates the car feel so much more snug and when taking curves aggressively you don’t budge. I want that same feel in the z and the only way is with the comp seats. The gt2’s as nice but the seat portion isn’t aggressive enough save I will shift around a bit like I did on my 15 z without the comps. I like alcantara anyway so comp it is.

Oh and my 16 ctsV has the recaros which are also pretty sweet as well and have very aggressive bolstering upper and lower which are both adjustable which is awesome. Love those seats too. So ya gotta have the comps.
