My dealer and so called friend was talking last night and told me that our original deal is not a deal anymore. It was 500 below sticker as it was on my 2020 Z51. Will his new price is 50k over sticker, no way I’m going to get screwed that much, I guess a person’s word is no good anymore when it comes to greed. These dealers doing this I hope they loose a lot of business when the dust settles and there lots are full of new corvettes.
You guys are funny,
A business sells their product for what the market allows, thats how capitalism is supposed to work. If some idiot wants to pay $50K over sticker, the dealer will accommodate that all day long. You cannot blame the dealer when he made a decision before he knew all the facts. basically the fools willing to pay more than the new ZO6 is worth, they will be the ones driving them in public first, kinda simple if you think about it. So don't get all but hurt, there will not be many more new cars that will carry this much hype and bidding frenzy
so by that retort, you personally are getting rung up for your next grocery order, and the manager walks over and says, "we just got word supplies will be limited on our next truck...start adding 50% to all register rings including this one."
You gonna stand there and say oh well, it's capitalism?!
Damn, friend or not, I would have had some serious words with the dude. Would have gotten very ugly! I have in writing for msrp, but have never dealt with this particular dealer before, so am anxious to see if it stands?!?

Your dealer probably has next to no new cars on the lot. What is happening is dealers are struggling so much for new inventory and having cars on the lot that they are forced to overpay for used cars with little profit margin right now. While it is frustrating for you, I imagine your dealer may be struggling to keep the lights on right now. Dealers that usually have 200-300+ new cars on their lots ready for sale have less than 50.
Do the math. I think you will see more of this (markups on new cars) as dealers continue to try and make profits due to shortages.

I partially agree here. Everyone is always so pissed when dealers charge ADM when demand exceeds supply, but of course is happy to get below MSRP when supply exceeds demand. Can't have it both ways IMO. If you want to have one sooner, you gotta pay to play. I don't fault a dealer for selling for what the market will bare while they can, since historically they have to sell at or under MSRP relatively soon.
The part that I think is slimy is if they break a previous agreement to sell at a specified price. Yeah they may have not had all the details, but it was pretty clear this car was going to be in high demand and have limited supply, so it's not exactly a recent revelation that they could sell for over MSRP for a while.

Well, he works for a car dealer. Very little can ever be counted on in that respect. The only question I have left is will one, or more of the “Big 3” collapse under the pressure of potential wild profits, at least for the first couple of years. GM wanted the Z06 to be “available” to the average buyer, but it looks like the first year or longer might just be mostly millionaires, and the few willing to sell everything they have and, or take out a second mortgage to take possession. My bet says MacMulkin would be the last holdout, if that should occur, but if they fall, it’s all over.
The flip side in that situation is that GM will have to re-market the C8 Z06 to compete with the McClaren’s, and Lambo’s targeting the upper elite of the supercar market, keeping the base car as the “everyman” (or woman) version. If so, they will have torpedoed their previous customer base. The next 6-9 months should be an interesting ride to see what the Z06 actually becomes, as opposed to what might have initially been represented. GM apparently can’t control what the dealers choose to do, so it will be they that define exactly what the Z06 becomes.

Definitely wouldn’t be a friend of mine anymore if they did that to me.
