I would assume there's an option for 'read speed limit' under driver assist or camera settings. If the camera doesn't read the speed limit then it won't know to flash the warning.

It pulls the speed limit info from the navigation system. There's a setting buried in the menus somewhere to enable/disable this, I've seen it, I just don't remember where.
The Speed Warning display allows the driver
to set a speed that they do not want to
exceed. To set the Speed Warning, press the
thumbwheel when Speed Warning is
displayed, or press the thumbwheel on the
main view to set the speed value. Scroll to
adjust the value. Press the thumbwheel to
set the speed. Once the speed is set, this
feature can be turned off by pressing the
thumbwheel while viewing this page. If the
selected speed limit is exceeded, a pop-up
warning is displayed with a chime.
That would suggest it is buried in the controls in the DIC.
One other possibility is you may have the teen driver speed warning turned-on. Settings/vehicle/teen driver.
You'll probably have to hunt through all the menus, if that is not one of those two.

your suggestion is for the speed warning. It's different than the you have exceeded the posted speed.
I am going to look in the teen driver section next trip out.
