Default ZO6 engine builder

Watching the videos of the way the engines are built at the factory make it look like anybody could do it. Do you guys really think the engine builder matters??? For those of you that do, which builder do you in your knowledge is the guru of the engine builders? Mine was built by Sasha.

I don't think it matters. This isn't an old guy in a machine shop with hand tools doing a full on balance and blueprinting job. These builders are just putting together the parts that are given to them to use. Seems like computers and automated tools do the critical work.

If it really mattered GM woiuldn't even entertain the idea of warrantying an engine that was built by some random customer with an unknown experience level.

You bet your sweet old *** it matters. Anyone say it doesn't is an idiot. Human beings make ERRORS ALL THE TIME. GET REAL if you think they can do a Prefect job

That used to be an actual option to allow the buyer to build his own engine a number of years ago. I think it was a $5,000 option. Buyer could be a real ******** and not know what a wrench is.

It doesn’t matter. Automation serves as quality control behind the Assembler. There is no room for a worker’s personal technique in the process. It’s just a marketing gimmick.

Exactly, the name plates, and all the other hype about "hand built" is BS. Square peg in square hole stuff.

I don't know enough about the actual process and how many critical steps there are to render an accurate opinion. I would think it probably doesn't matter in most cases but certainly the potential exists where it *could* matter. If you were given the option of having someone who has been trained and ready to build their first engine and someone who has been building Z06's engines since they were prototypes, I know who I am choosing. Also, personal hygiene and cleanliness can play a role even if all the engine builders are equally trained and skilled. You get a speck or two of dirt or sand in the wrong place and you could score a cylinder wall which could potentially lead to premature loss of power or failure.

Yeah, "personal hygiene". Here are the paragons of that world:
