Check engine light came on on my z06 at 645 miles. Obviously very frustrated and worried. Do I take it to my in town dealer that I don't trust at all but should have a corvette mechanic (they sell new vettes) or do I risk driving it 110 miles to the closest dealership that I trust to actually work on it? Car seems to be running okay.

if it was me, I’d find someone with a scanner and have them scan it. I don’t trust dealers, but we are married to them unfortunately cause of the warranty. Corvette tech doesn’t mean anything, I see how dealers work being in one for almost 30yrs, it’s who ever is available for the job, with some years behind them. The dealer will tell you anything then some 18yr old lube tech is scanning your car and asking for help what to do, see it all day long.
Have the car scanned, see what it is, if the light is flashing it’s not a good idea to drive it, but if it’s on solid, there won’t be any harm done, if the eco sees harm it will put the car into limp mode and give reduced power.
Id take it to the dealership you trust to work on it. Since you got a CEL, I would scan your car before driving it 110 miles. Goto your local mechanics and have them do it. Or goto one of those chain automotive part stores. They will do it for free.
So I cycled on off for about 10 minutes 3 different times and the CEL is now off. I am hoping this means this hopefully isn't serious issue? I'm assuming still take it to a place to be scanned?

it will come back, get it scanned. Key cycles will do this
Scanned it and the code that came up was U1611- loss of communication with engine control module on CAN BUS 2. Called dealer and they said if the light is off and car running normally it will be really hard to figure out with a history code but to bring it in if it happens again. Fingers crossed
