Default Mid Cycle Refresh

On the fence about a 24 or waiting to 25 for my Z06 order as there are rumors of a possible mid-cycle refresh coming. If that were to occur (for 25), when do we think GM would release what the hypothetical updates would be for the new model year?

From my observation in the previous generations, corvette never had mid cycle major updates. They usually give minor updates for each year model. Maybe this time is different.

^^^ It'll stay basically the same for the entire C8 run. Considering the Z was just released, and the ERay hasn't made it into any customer's hands, don't expect any changes.

It would have been nice to wait until the bash to find out any changes to 2025 MY, but unfortunate part with Z06( SR now has this luxury) is you can’t necessarily wait for the changes and still get a 2024 if you don’t like them because you never know when the dealer will get an allocation or be forced into a 2025.

I'm thinking a bigger screen for infotainment. To go along with the across the board gm ones you see on all 2024 2025 existing vehicles (just about).

I just don't think that they change the physical dimensions of it though just way less of a border..

Which MAY be the reason the huge border on the existing one was always there.

What about the supposed interior redesign? I can see that happening but since mine will hopefully be a 2024, I hope not.

The C3 changed significantly during it's long run.

Y'all be cool:-)

C5 - Technically no changes over the life for the most part given the FRC/Z06 was it's own body-style. However 2001+ cars got a lot of changes (basically detuned LS6, electronic brake proportioning, etc.)

C6 - 2008 was a considered a mid-cycle update given the interior trim changed, steering wheel changed, and LS3 added

C7 - Given this was a "never intended" car and a filler for the delayed C8 the C7 had basically no changes over it's life other than being launched with the A6 only to get the A8 the 2nd MY

However, development cycles are getting quicker and people get bored and cars are more disposable. I keep hearing rumors of an interior overhaul because "someone" high up doesn't like the current setup. I could see them laying down the button wall and moving to a larger center screen. The real variable is if there's a new LT3 DOHC base motor in the works or not, but we've not seen much testing of anything other than ZR1 of late.

If I were betting... I'd say interior update for MY25 and forward.

EDIT - Color changes... there have been multiple articles about GM moving to a more exiting color pallet. I have my fingers crossed for a more traditional yellow like the racecar or Turquoise Metallic from the C4 because the 80s/90s are cool again. I'd trade my car for either of those colors despite the MSRP increases.

Was there ever obvious mules running about before the LS3 debuted or did GM just go, “ hey new engine for 2008!”

I’m sure there would be mules running around with an “LT3”, but they may not be obvious.

It'd be easy to hide... and there were some Stingray's with emissions testing tips on them, but unk if that was certifying the LT2 for something new. But it's been a long time since I've seen anything other than the ZR1 testing at the ring. Plus, the Gen6 motor hasn't made it to the truck yet.

I say put your name in line and at least get started. I waited 18 months for my car. In Aprilish of 2022 they told me I was up. I knew the following month BG was going to start building out 2023's. I asked the dealer to let whomever was in front of me go and I wanted to wait a month for the new model year. Ironically my dealer had no idea when 2023's were starting but Corvette Forum did lol. I waited the extra month and got one of the first 2023's in my area. Nothing on my build changed but it was a few hundred more. I was fine with it. Just a thought.

The C4 underwent a complete dashboard change in 1990. Bumpers changed in 1991 to the 1990 ZR1 rear style and wrap around design for the front. Engine change in 1992 from L98 to LT1. ZR1 got a new front bumper in 1991 and a horsepower increase in 1993.

I don't think we'll see any dramatic changes for the C8 just yet. Maybe 2026 or beyond if this platform goes that far.

Current best rumors are C9 as a MY29 in CY28. Built on a revised C8 chassis which suggest retention of ICE and hybrid configs.

Interior was essentially the same the entire run. The fake cf patterned radio bezel changed pattern/color. The steering wheel was the same 2006-2013, with 2012-2013 being a little thicker & they added chrome trim around the controls. Seats changed for 2012-2013, specifically the seat back foam was a little wider at the shoulders.

Basically to the extent of the stealth pkg they added for C8. They threw in the '13 427 Convertible to close out the C6 run.

All accurate... the end of run seat change was due to new side impact laws IIRC. I was off on the wheel change from dough-boy to Cobalt I never owned a C6.

If you're in the market for a new car I wouldn't wait. Don't deprive yourself of the immense fun of owning the current gen Z06. You can always buy another one later. It's going to be hard to top it, cost no object. It's a historic car.

If you can secure a Z06 that is the car you want and the price you want, IMO buy it.

We know the C8 model year is going thru 2025 at least, which is 6 years, how much if any longer? The missing number in the group is 7 years and I think that may be it.

  • C5 Corvette: 1997-2004= 8 years
  • C6 Corvette: 2005-2013= 9 years
  • C7 Corvette: 2014-2019=6 years
  • C8 Corvette: 2020-?

for C6 completeness, 2008 also got the TR6060 manual transmission, which was a nice upgrade over the T-56.

The C5 definitely had a mid-gen update. There is a clear distinction between '97-'00 and '01-'04. A 2000 and 2001 might look similar, but under the skin there were many, many, many changes for MY21.

I'm sure the C8 ZR1 will bring improvements that find their way into later years of the C8Z.

My take on this issue FWIW is, if GM is selling more C8’s (especially Z06’s) than they can produce at this point, why invest in the development, and update?🤷🏻‍♂️
