So, one local dealer gave the allocation I was working on to someone else yesterday. However, as luck would have it, I stumbled across another. We haggled a bit, but I am drawing the line at 5k over. They wanted 10K, but will drop to 7500. I told them no thanks and they indicated they “have until Tuesday” and may take my offer? (Assuming they will try to get more in the meantime)
I thought the orders had to go in today? What is the significance of Tuesday as the other dealer said “I may get another on Tuesday and will let you know”.
But they can change the order on Tuesday to your spec.
interesting. But the order does have to go in today? So, if they are trying to get higher than my offer for a custom order, that has to be input today?

My knowledge of the process is yes the order has to go in today.
And the system will allow changes come Tuesday before it goes to 3000 on Wednesday and gets locked in.
Hence them saying they may take your offer on Tuesday. They will just do a TRE order, configure it however they want, etc just to meet the deadline tonight. If they take your offer, they will then go in on Tuesday to change that order to your spec.

thank you much - very helpful. I am betting they will hold out this weekend for a better offer.
Well its obvious that the dealership that you are now dealing with has their eyes soley set on $. I'm not saying that its bad or good. I just think you should not get your hopes up. Some dealerships like that would rather try and sit on a car to see if they get more and sometimes can be wishy washy about selling the car as they may think they can always get more. All it would take is someone potentially offering more and they are looking the other way. Heck it could happen at delivery if your not smart about getting a contract etc. Been there done that.
Anyway. My thoughts would be offer 1k over MSRP if they come back to you at last minute because they couldn't squeeze more money out of someone else. As you are the back up to the back up plan. Make sure to get contract signed on the purchase price of the car.
if you plan on giving that much over MSRP anyway no matter what happens because you really want the car. Then so be it. But from the sounds of it, this one may be hard to land cleanly and without headache since it sounds like the dealer doesn't care about making corvette sale relationships like some of the fine dealerships here on the forum.

thanks - this is where I am leaning.
If they did not find another buyer, they have an order coming if they don’t update it with a customer’s order. I don’t think they want that risk. Bears and Bulls make money, pigs get slaughtered.
Small dealership taking in a 150k Z06 in 8-10 weeks? I don’t think they will chance it, but we will see. (I have a Ciocca number coming soon, so I have the cards :-))
