Default Cold engine/low speed behavior

So I have 200 miles on my 2024, after 10k miles on my 2022 stingray which I am comparing to.

Ive noticed at low speeds when the engine is not fully warmed up, the car can kinda "buck" or mildly surge on light acceleration in gear 1 or 2.

Not flawlessly smooth like my Stingray was.

Is this normal? I attribute it to the reduced torque and general characteristics of FPC DOHC engine. ..its comfort zone is higher rpm compared to LT2 which loves low RPM

Yes, it’s not quite as smooth as the Stingray, in my experience. The Z06 trans has an extra clutch plate, and it seems to be tuned for a more aggressive engagement, overall.

I notice that a little. Often right after it has been fired up and I'm creeping through a parking garage. Goes away within a minute or two of leaving the parking garage.

I notice it, more slip from the DCT (and engine tick is louder) when starting out in mine too. It definitely doesn’t like to be cold.

Yes normal. It's not really the engine though it's the DCT tuning. It's just more aggressive, very normal on almost all high powered supercars with a DCT

Yep, cold engine and crawling through my parking garage can get a little stutter-y sometimes. Not a huge deal and it goes away as soon as I get out on the normal roads.

Thanks for the replies all. It sounds like my car is operating normally. Just takes some getting used to as its different than the SR

Z06 - race car engine

SR - modified truck engine

one of the Corvette team guys told me flat out you don't want to be driving this engine while cold. Let it warm up for a while before driving it.

you're not going to see that part advertised anywhere as it my scare off some people. Idk why they car? Or maybe it has to do with such a litigious society.

let the engine oil get up over 100f at least before rolling out.

As for the trans it feels similar to me just a different engine hooked up to it and when not warmed up definitely acts differently at low speed.

Noticed same thing in heavy traffic - at about 2-5 mph - assume normal for the heavy duty clutch pack and DCT. Sometimes felt like it wasn't sure if to stay in 1st or shift to 2nd - Give it some gas and all good.

I have the same stuttering at low speeds but goes away when warmed up. Z06 is more raw than stingray by far. I am only 50 miles away from 500 miles. This car likes to run, does not like the low rpm range like stingray. That’s why it’s a totally different car then stingray

I just picked up my Z06 today in Ft Lauderdale. Also noticed that the engine needed some revs before the transmission engaged from the initial start. Was thinking there might be something wrong, but now it appears that it is normal. Good to be able to get this info in the forum.

It is definitely different than my Stingray. Starting off from a full stop, particularly before the car has warmed up, is a split-second delay followed by a lurch. Takes getting used to.

IMO it should be relatively smooth. My 2020 Stingray did exactly what you described at low speeds such as parking lots, it had a front to rear jerking feeling. It did somewhat go away after about 1500 miles but not completely. My subsequent 4 had non of this nonsense. I will be able to fill you in better in two weeks when I take delivery of my Z.

Mine does it every time I pull out of the driveway and leave my community slowly.

it’s not a warm engine issue but a DCT temp issue. The clutch packs seem sticky when they’re not warmed up. Sitting around letting the car idle won’t help.
