For a person with zero restraint, keeping the car under 4K was brutal. Add in that it’s been raining non-stop since I got the car and I’ve been aching to get these miles done. Mission accomplished!
Hit 500 miles exactly, turned into a gas station, locked/unlocked the car, restarted, put it in sport mode and let it rip. Didn’t launch and don’t plan to anytime soon but did get a good sense of overall acceleration and feel at speed - note that I was literally on backroads with zero traffic but did do a few highway pulls when flow of traffic allowed.
I don’t understand the complaints about torque. While I too love the torque of a turbo charged engine, nothing it better than the immediate response and linear power delivery of a naturally aspirated high-revving engine. I’ll say that the DCT is good, not quite as good as a Porsche PDk but really good. At least in sport mode, there seemed to be an intermittent slight delay, sometimes on upshifts but mostly on downshifts. I’ll give it a go in track mode tomorrow, play around with settings and report back. I’ll also be taking up permanent residence at the corner gas station, holy hell it burns through gas!
Overall, I’m pleased with the initial response and power level. It’s not overdone and seems to fit the rest of the package really well. The only other negative was a nasty burning smell coming from the engine bay which I figure was the usual seals, lubes and coatings getting up to true operating temp the first time - smells horrible though! More to come as I settle into the car. As a person who never thought a Corvette would be my thing, I’m now a believer. The car is far from perfect but it’s still really, really good.

I don't know so much it's people complaining about the torque as just noting it, and it only applies if you're driving in manual mode at low rpm.

Try driving it in manual all the time, it's a blast and shift delays aren't an issue.

Yes, yes it does. It's even worse on track.

Yeah, that would really help! I was filling up every other session at the track. Two 30 minute sessions would basically put me at about 1/4 tank, and at the end of the day I ran about 1:15 before having to bring it in due to fuel.
