Ceramic Coating on Wheels
Happy camper got my Red Mist HTC LT3 Z06 last Sunday and boy is it hard to keep it under 4K RPMs for the 1st 500 miles. Going to get the front end and various spots with a clear bra and will do a ceramic coating on the car afterwards. My question do you see a significant decrease in brake dust sticking to the wheels after they have been coated and does it last? Really wanted the ceramic brakes but they were on restraint when my car was about to be built.

Congrats on the new Z06, great color too! I ceramic coated the MRR wheels for my SR before having the tires swapped. I think it keeps the brake dust from sticking as bad so they're easier to clean. It should last a long time by using the correct car wash soap for ceramic coatings.

It makes them easier to clean, doesn't necessarily stop dust from sticking.
If you wash the rim with products meant for ceramic coats, the coating should last several years.

The only solution I found to prevent dirty wheels from brake dust is to replace the brake pads, which is okay for a street car.
I have replaced the original brake pads on almost every Corvette I have owned.
