I seem to recall a thread on a Camaro forum years ago when I bought mine, a tread about the compliments and interactions people have with their cars. I'm sure the Z06 gets a good deal of attention, be fun to hear all the experiences people have had so far. My Z was just built so I can't share anything but figured I'd start a thread to see what people have been saying out in the wild.
I'd say it's not clear. I mean I had a 2020 SR and it was like a rolling parade with people giving thumbs up and waving every time I drove it. I'm not sure how many even know it's a Z06. Other than the chicken foot on the side, it's a bit subtle on the difference to the general public. I still get loads of the same on it though.
I agree with Phil. When I got my ‘22 SR in late ‘21, the C8 was still new and rare and got looks and gas station questions all the time. My favorite was a lady at a gas station asking about it, and when I told her it was a Corvette, her jaw hit the pavement and she said, “THAT is a Corvette!?”
I think when most people hear it they know it’s different, but I think the other half think it’s a Ferrari or MacLaren (mine is Amplify Orange). Those that “know” what this car and engine are, want to see it.
My Torch Red C8Z has gotten more attention than any of my previous cars. Had a red C6Z it didn't get nearly as much. My '17 ZL1 got occasional comments it was too loud which got bad attention too.
C8Z has gotten thumbs up many times, kids asking about it, guys asking to rev it, one kid yelled 'Ferrari Ferrari' wife and I thought it was too funny. If you don't like the attention definitely get a black car or something more under the radar.
I'm in LA where fancy sports cars are a dime a dozen. I do get compliments on the car, but pretty exclusively from people who are also car enthusiasts and can recognize what the Z06 is and why its special. To regular people, it's just another brightly colored sports car driving down the road.
I live in the downtown of a major city and the car gets a ton of positive compliments/energy.
What I love about the car is that it screams "fun/awesome enthusiast car" rather than "rich douche car for non-enthusiasts" like some other brands exude.
my workmates often tell me there is a hilbilly redneck parked in my spot
? not sure what they mean....they are thinking that only a "hillbilly redneck" would drive a Z06? Have they seen what hillbilly rednecks drive? I am originally from Tennessee and I am familiar with this ilk. :-)
Curious what those folks drive to work: McLaren's or Lambo's?
It's a funny quip, but I never thought of the Z06 exuding that type of vibe....

My Z06 and my past ZL1 1LE get/got the most attention compared to my past sports/fun cars (992.1 GTS, Cayman GTS 4.0, M3/4s, GT350). My CT4-V BW got a decent amount of compliments from quite a few people that actually knew what it was.
So I've had a number of "thumbs up" and some nice car compliments since I got the car about a month ago.
Funniest one was the other day I'm leaving the gym and there is a construction crew hanging out at the end of the parking lot and I see one of them walking towards me and I know he wants me to stop....when I do the whole crew gathers around checking it out and wishing me luck...very nice. One of them said "you must get laid alot with this car!" LOL
As others have stated when I had my first C8 Z51 back in early 2020 it would garner abit more attention because they were so rare to see on the road (at that time)...the Z06 certainly still gets attention but moreso because of the sound. For example when at a covered gas station and you start the car it will get attention from pretty much every person most every time

Thats so funny that you say that....normally when I get gas I never shut the car off. But I make a point to shut the Z off so I can start it and let it roar! LOL

agree, 100%. I’m on the West Coast. I had one of the first few hundred cars delivered in 2020 rapid blue stingray……got all kinds of an attention. I’ve had my ZO6 now for two years. I don’t think anybody can tell the difference from the base car. nobody seems to care anymore.
