I'm in the process of trying to place an order. I actually had 2 dealers both call me today saying they could submit my build today but of course both got kicked back due to the carbon aero not being available.
I definitely want the aero and I'm flexible as far as it being painted or exposed carbon. Unfortunately this seems to be one of the items most consistently on constraints.
I have a few questions as this is my first go around with trying to get my build submitted.
How often do more allocations typically become available?
How many rounds of allocations are people waiting to get the aero?
How long are buyers typically waiting to get their build approved once they get to the front of the waiting list?
Can anyone give any insights on current constraint conditions vs past and what to expect in the near future?
I'm working with a few smaller dealers in my area. I tried getting on a list at a bigger dealer a few times but they haven't been taking anymore names for the list when i called about a month or 2 ago.
Order cycles happen typically every 2 weeks. High volume dealers get allocations each cycle. if the aero is not available on that cycle, you will not get the order. You will have to look up your dealer on c8 tracker to see how many z's they get per year to answer your own questions.

I was in a similar situation as you as far as the aero and constraints go. I had told myself that visible carbon fiber was a must have for the high wing, but when I found an allocation and the only concession I had to make was to have it painted black rather than visible I settled and am happy I did.
What I’ve found is that allocations go out every two weeks on Thursday. Whether your dealer gets an allocation or not depends on some sort of GM algorithm. There are good threads elsewhere on the forum that give lots more details on how the process works.
Constraints are set at a number available for that round of allocations. One dealer may have the aero (color, etc) but another may not, or the constraint could be set to 0 and no one gets it.
As far as wait time goes, I was on a few lists at local dealers for a few years. In the last six weeks I decided I was tired of waiting for an allocation and became much more aggressive in my search. I tried calling every dealer within a few hundred mile radius, and joined a few groups on Facebook. I monitored the Facebook groups for about a month to understand the timing, then when I knew a round of allocations was due I checked every 15-30 minutes until I managed to secure one. My personal opinion is this is the best method if you want one asap.
Ultimately I think I got lucky, I got in the second round of 2025 allocations and only had the one very minor concession on my build I’d mentioned above; had I passed I’d still be waiting because every round of allocations since has had at least one of my must-haves on tight constraint. The market seems to be cooling, I’m seeing some allocations going for below MSRP, but it’s possible that’s only due to others passing because of the list of constraints.
Also there are over 800 Z's sitting on lots waiting to be had. Some of those dealers are motivated to sell the cars so its a good time. Take a look and if you find what you are looking for, shoot the an offer. They can only say 'NO" or 'Yes"

I've seen a couple. 1 with a Z07 that was still attempting a $10k markup (which is currently down to $5k over)
I just found another right in my price range about 90 minutes away.
1 problem I have is not wanting to drive all over the place racking up miles on my trade in hoping to find a deal.
The other thing is am I missing out on options i kind of want. Neither have the red intake which i want and i wanted red calipers which one doesn't have that either and both have black wheels when id rather have titanium. All little things but spending this much money its kind of important unless i can find the right dealer and timing where they might be willing to either give top dollar for my trade or go slightly below msrp.
It's kind of a crap shoot. If the dealer you are working with doesn't get a lot of Z06 allocations it makes it even worse. They could go 4 or 5 allocation cycles without getting a Z06 to order, then when they do they may have the option you want constrained.
When my number came up I was willing to get what I could, but I wasn't about to let the order slip away since my dealer only gets one Z06 every two months on average. My dealer didn't have a painted Carbon Flash aero allocation like I wanted, but he did have visible aero. I switched to visible carbon fiber instead of going without the aero altogether.
I'm glad I did, my car should be getting built next week and I will get to have some fun with it before winter sets in. You have to decide if the feature you want is worth the wait I guess.

Ah I see. I wouldn't worry about driving much as most of the transaction can be done over the phone....also a another 1k miles on the car wouldn't affect your value much. Anyway. Take your car to carvana and carmax if you have one around you to find the value they will give. This will give you the flexibility to do the calculations on getting a car ot of state no trade and you paying the full taxes and see how much off on a car you would need to do the same local deal. You may also drive to other dealer for trade as well. Here are a couple cars from 5 to 8k that are motivated to sell cars. The deal will only get better once you start talking and extend a real offer to close the deal.

I can't believe how so many want someone else to do the 'shopping around' for them! Get on autotrader.com, describe the model, color and a couple other variables, and press the search button. After that, I suggest that you email to check availability. Based on the response CALL AND TALK LIVE. I know that's something that many are very uncomfortable with (talking live to someone) but that's the way to get the deal you want because the seller will know you are serious, not just some kid in study hall with a smart phone....
NO ONE should be paying MSRP anymore for a new Corvette now!
