This is typical of carburated vehicles. The passive nature of a carb allows old fuel to turn to varnish and plug up jets. Fuel injection is much less likely to have this problem. The fuel pressure alone on these DI systems will likely blow out any varnish that might build up over a few months. Now, long term storage? I'd highly suggest using it.

Good point about the higher fuel pressure. I never considered that on a fuel injected engine even though I knew the fuel pressure is much higher.
