OK so I sold my 2016 Z06 and waiting the arrival of it's replacement. I was wondering what brand of ppf people are using and why. My 2016 had Xpel and I was pretty satisfied with it. Also without going into a lot of detail I'm thinking of having a small amount of the front end color wrapped. Would I need to go over the color wrap with ppf or will it provide the same degree of protection as the clear ppf? Thanks for any help.

So color wrap isn’t PPF, hence different name and function. I’ve seen a few color wrapped cars and you can see all the areas flaking, peeling, etc. To do a proper job, do color and then PPF on-top.
I went with Xpel simply because my preferred shop used it. I don’t think there is any significant difference between the two major PPF manufacturers that I know about and it should come down to who is the installer. The better film doesn’t matter if the installer does a crappy job.
I used Xpel on my new 2025 Z07 (bumper to bumper), followed by a proprietary blend of Ceramic Coat chemicals that my installer uses. I'm pretty happy with it.
I have XPEL on my older car, a self-installed pre-cut kit. For the Z06, my PPF vendor recommended STEK as easier to install and stretch. I listened to him, bought another pre-cut track kit (Entire front, mirrors, A-pillar, top forward-most roof section and rockers all the way to the rear) of STEK. I think it was a bit easier to install than the XPEL. The pre-cut kit fit quite well.
I am getting Xpel a week after I bring home my ZO6.
The installer uses XPEL and they want me bring it back every year to make sure still in good condition, like warranty reason. Did any of you get told that?
Only couple hours for yearly checkup.
Kavaca Ceramic pro. Installers hate it because it is the thickest film available and is a bear to apply. It is taking over the Charlotte market with at least 4 major PPF installer detailers becoming certified. STEK and XPEL are now the rarity.

Very satisfied with SUNTEK Reaction PPF, my shop uses SUNTEK products. My E-Ray has body color trim but I had a portion of front bumper under the beak wrapped to match carbon flash. They didn’t put PPF over it.
What does PPF cost (ballpark) for a Z06? Assuming I want the whole car done? And does it have to be re-done every 3-5 years?
Depends on location and installer as well as the product. I'm in the NE and a top installer charged me 10k for the entire car, which included wrapped egdes everywhere it was possible. To your other question, a good install lasts much longer than 3-5 years although if an area gets damaged, it's not uncommon to replace just that piece. I've done that on a few cars.
Not all PPF installers are the same and your level of satisfaction will depend on the quality of installation. My premium everything included quote from one of the premium installers in the central US: PPF Full Wrap in Xpel Gloss Paint Protection Film Labor and Material $8,495.00 Replacement Emblems for ones removed for seamless PPF installation $350.00 Misc. Supplies $309.58 Sales Tax $686.59 Total $9,841.17. 10-year warranty. Start leaving things off like paint correction etc. and the price goes down.
And without going into detail, full exterior Xpel ceramic coating $2,781.56
I'm in the Chicago area. Xpel - bumper to bumper - cost me $9,700. PPF was all edges tucked.
Yep,that's the bottom quote around here in Silicon Valley, but that was for the front end, rocker panels, up to the front roof panel and lower doors, one place quoted $13K and would want it for 4 weeks. Oh, and a 6-week wait to begin.

My guy did it for $4k, full car and graphene coating. I get a good price from him. He has PPF'ed and ceramic/graphene coated probably a total of 8 cars of mine....
