Default Check engine light issue resolved.

update

dealer just reported cylinders 5 and 7 are misfiring causing the check engine light. Ran through tests to determine if there was a leak somewhere or bad plugs or wires and everything checked out. Cleared the codes and concluded one or two things. First gas tank was less than a 1/4 full when the codes
appeared and secondly he believes it could have been caused by not driving the car fast and hard enough, in other words drive it like you stole it. Admittedly it hasn’t been tracked and police in this area are gunning for those w high performance cars. So lesson learned, find a place to drive it fast and hard and possibly avoid throwing codes for misfiring cylinders.

Just hit two thousand miles and damn light shows up. Don’t have a code reader but Chevy app indicates transmission/emissions need servicing.
just dropped off the car and hope it can be checked out asap. Saw a you tube video of an owner saying clear the code as it’s a software issue nothing more. Any insight from owners here, Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I would buy an OBDII reader so you can easily read/reset the codes and then Google what they translate too. Avoiding the stealer is your best bet.

welcome to the club. I have had my 24" z now for just under a year, and I'd say I have had the CEL come on about 5 times. all related to the P0700 code.

Mine has 1375 miles on it and it's been flawless in every respect.
Yesterday while driving the engine light came on.
Oil pressure? Check.
Water temp? 182 F.
No strange engine related noises.

So, I drove it home just to be safe. Again, it drives flawlessly.

Ordered an Autel AL329 OBD code reader.
Should be interesting. Updates soon.

I own a 2024 with the Z07 package, which has approximately 6,200 miles on it. Around 3,000 miles, it generated a code U1611. After the fourth restart, the code cleared. I’ve heard that the Delco batteries aren’t particularly reliable, so I started leaving the car plugged into the GM battery charger/tender whenever it’s in the garage overnight. Since implementing this change, I haven’t encountered any further CEL issues. I’m not suggesting this is a universal solution, but it appears to be working for my specific vehicle.

My 2025 Z with 667 miles on it, is also in the Chevy shop today for constant, not blinking CEL, my OBD2 reader shows P2251 - O2 sensor Negative current control circuit bank 1 sensor 1, and more concerning to me P0011 A Camshaft position Timing over-advanced or System performance Bank 1. I have been able to "clear" both of these codes but they just come back, and are stored now as permanent codes. A recall is available since 2/25 for the BCM U1962 code not clearing. I don't have a U code but maybe this will help with the others. I just hope its something simple. I have seen some random cylinder 3, 5,7 misfires that clear themselves, other than when the misfires were detected the car runs fine. This is my first Chevy. The dealer has two certified corvette techs so I'm in line for a diagnosis.

Update, I took a chance and just threw it on the charger that came with the car. After plugging it in its only up to the second lowest battery icon.
I let it sit for about 2 hrs. until the charger showed a full charge. Unplugged the charger and started the car. BAM! No CEL!
The OBD scanner is out for delivery, let's see if it picks up any codes.
I'm thinking it needs to be plugged in when not driven. Time for that LI battery.

I would find another dealer.
Any “wrench” that says the problem with a car made in the modern era (mid-80’s+) is that it hasn’t been “driven hard enough” clearly doesn’t have a clue. A modern fuel-injected- direct injection engine at that doesn’t work like that.

Your car is supposed to use a flooded lead/acid battery. LI batteries charge at a different voltage that your charging system is not designed to output. It may sound like a good idea, but I wouldn't do it. And God forbid, if you have any kind of electrical failure in the car, GM will claim it is your fault.

nice long on ramps to the interstate highways are always a good place to run it up. And you are always at speed to merge safely when you are ready. Win win.

We just had a Z06 in with 1,3xx miles that had a intermittent misfire code for bank 1, cylinders 5/7 as well.

Only missed the first 15 seconds or so in open loop on the initial cold start - Z06 double fires the injectors for the first 60 seconds to warm up the cats .

Flashed the MIL but didn't permanently command the light but stored the codes.

GM has a generic TSB out there too.

Put fresh plugs in and it cleared up

Don't start them up and shut them off right away (and use quality/top tier fuel). And drive them hard

Bottom line - these cars like to be driven hard.

Interesting, how hard is it to change the plugs on the LT6? I haven't looked at how to get to them.

Ugh, 3 hours is quite a bit for plugs. I'm guessing you had to remove engine accessories to get to some of them then?
