Default RSC wing riser install

Has anyone tackled this install. I have the ts30 Torx plus security bolts off and the two t30 standard Torx bolts from the stanchions to the wing. But the stanchions are glued with epoxy or urethane to the blade and they don’t budge. Apparently earlier builds didn’t have the adhesive but I do(2025). RSC advised using and a long clamp to pull the stanchions toward each other until the adhesive gives but was wondering if anyone was successful and has any tips before I go possibly destroy my OEM wing. I’m considering just buying a new wing and selling my stock one to avoid potential damage.

I did the replacement a couple weeks ago.

As noted there is a dab of some type of adhesive applied between the wing and stanchions from the factory.
I gave it a wack with a rubber mallet. Not to scientific, but it worked.

i understand your hesitation, but carbon fiber is quite a bit stronger than plastic or fiberglass.

Like RCS advised, apply side to side movement (not fwd and aft) to break it free. Once you get one free you’ll see how much effort it took to tackle the other.

The clamp method allows you to gradually increase the force, but once one breaks free the other no longer has anything to brace to.

Biggest issue with replacing the wing is finding one in stock. So it’s not really an option

Yes it is a pain. I had a shop do it. Model year 24 with epoxy. Took three people including a body shop expert to take it apart. About $400 labour. I recall they mentioned putting something thin trying to cut into the gap, some involvement of hammer/mallet, and rocking it loose.

They also called RSC for clarification because the part didn't come with any manual. RSC said because the installation has been so difficult for so many people they no longer make the risers anymore and it's gonna be only the full wing kit.

When you do get them separated, I installed the new risers with blue loctite and 7 Nm or 60 in lbs of torque . At both locations, the wing and body mount bolts

I just got done with this install and it wasn't difficult at all. I had more difficulties putting together my cheapo Harbor Freight bumper stand than this.

Once the wing is off and the bolts are out, apply some heat to the working area with a heat gun. With some strong fishing line, try and work it in between the OEM riser and the wing. The fishing line won't go past where the riser to wing bolts were. Apply more heat to the area, cover with a towel, tap it a few times with a mallet. One side took way more force than the other. The other side I barely tapped it and it came off. If your CF is painted, the paint may stick from one part to the other as it did for me (pictured). Either way, it was a pretty simple procedure.

Not sure why RSC didn't include instructions. They went through a lot of trouble with package presentation, certs and stamps that a simple write up wouldn't take much.

Got the risers yesterday. Very nicley made product. Took off my wing and have all the bolts out and there is no way the factory risers will not come off. I used a heat gun and fishing line which seem to be useless. Soo pissed off, I put the wing back on the car. I guess ill need to take wing to collision shop and see if they can remove these. This should of been a half hour job tops!

DO NOT use heat. It’s not held on with foam adhesive tape like emblems. Fishing line is weak and won’t do anything.

It's an epoxy adhesive, just apply force to side of the riser to break it free. I hit it with a rubber mallet with increased force until it “broke” free.

I cannot emphasize, use extreme caution if you insist on using heat to remove the OEM risers. You run the risk of disbonding the Carbon fiber on the wing.

I used the wood clamps. That’s what I told RSC I used. After the first riser comes off you can use the side of the wing. Just try to place it so it doesn’t twist the side plate. You just want it to compress as much as possible. The CF will take tons of pure compression.

Heating vinyl / epoxy seems dangerous.

Well I took wing to my buddies collision shop. What a pain in the *** to get them risers off! I have a 2025 Zo7 and they used a grey epoxy glue with the two screws on each riser. Had to use heat gun on insides of risers, they were smoking hot. Then prybar inside of riser to break it lose. Cleaned up mounting areas on wing with mini grinding wheel and installed new risers. I will say I love the new look. That two to three inch height difference on the wing looks awesome!
