Recommend a code scanner?
Need a recommendation. I previously purchased an Innova 5310 code reader for our vehicles. This morning my 24 Z06 has a check engine light but no other indication what is wrong. The code reader connects but says there are no DTCs available. Also resetting the codes does not clear the light.
I obviously need a better code reader that can obtain all the codes from a 2024 Z06. I do not intend to go full on repairs on the z, just like to be able to scan for my own information and fix simple issues which is nearly impossible when you have no idea what is going on.

Depends on how deep you want to "see" into the vehicle functions. There are hundreds of up to $50 code readers but that is all they do. Very limited functions. You can spend $1000 or more for elaborate scan tools but don't need to unless you work in a shop that sees cars daily. For a home DIY owner $300 will get you a good scan tool that is Bi-directional along with other features like ABS, suspension, SRS diagnostics.
I spent $306 on the XTool D7S that is Bi-directional, full system diagnostics, full OBD function, and special functions. More than enough for a home user. Coverage on nearly all vehicles foreign and domestic.
2 year warranty with 3 year free updates, after the 3 year is up they are $99 per year.
There are many Scan Tools in the 3-400 dollar range that are very good. This D7S does everything my old Snap-On Solus Ultra would and it cost $3900. There are some good Ytube videos showing all the different types available.
Do your research before you decide what is the right tool for you and your vehicles.

I would get one that also cycles the DCT solenoids prior to changing the filter. The cheaper ones that do this are typically vehicle or brand specific.
