I'm in the market for a Z06 and I'm still wrestling with buying from inventory vs building 2025 vs 2026. The 2025 wall of buttons don't bother me. The additional accessory display is a minor plus on the 2026. My question here is for those that use the PDR frequently on track. Based on what's currently known can the new functionality in the 2026 be replicated with a 2025 system paired to a laptop or phone, namely lap comparison and other training tools? Thanks in advance.
The Garmin has coaching tools, and I use Race Chrono along with a RaceBox GPS when on track. The pdr captures detailed vehicle telemetry information that cannot be matched such as throttle and brake graphs, temps of tires etc. but for doing a quick comparison there are plenty of apps on the phone that can do it all. And currently better than the PDR from the perspective that the phone UI is much better and you can analyze data easier without downloading the data to the iPhone app or your laptop.
That said, if the new PDR can truly be user friendly and an easy to use system on the cars displays, and offers coaching, live split times, etc. it will be more than a minor upgrade on systems for anyone who tracks their car.
Other than the snippets I have seem on some of the GM videos, not sure what the '26 PDR can do,in the car.
Download Cosworth toolbox and you can use it to compare anything on any lap by designating a reference lap then any other lap. You can compare video of each lap, along with an over track view, speeds at corners, straights, temps/pressures of engine, transmission and tires. It's useful and seeing how is the best way to take a corner, how well you are on the gas and brake.
I could not find a tutorial so have just played with it and it is good.
I do not know if there is version to use on a phone. I'm using windows 10, still.
