I have been having issues fueling my Z06, the pump keeps shutting off I have tried numerous positions. Does anyone have any trick to share on filling without pump constantly shutting off. It’s concerning with the threads on fires, I don’t want to overfill but with the pump constantly going on and off it can be difficult to determine when it’s full.
happening on all gas pumps ? Sometimes you run into a pump that pumps the gas faster than normal. I used to do the final squeeze to top off the tank...no longer after seeing how close the gas filler is to hot engine components and the few fires that have happened. I wonder if there is an gas tank air bleeder that could be plugged? Good luck. It sounds like a dealer visit if it happens all the time.
Something is odd with this, I had a 2020 SR and now a 2024 Z06 and have never had an early shutoff problem, I go to multiple different stations too. It doesn't make sense that some cars do it and some don't. Is there some assembly issue that hasn't been discovered yet???
I am new to a Z06, but have filled up a couple of times. My first time was difficult, same issue as is stated above. I looked at the owners manual and noticed this drawing. I tried fueling this way, with the pump handle hanging a bit down and inserted fully. Apparently, there are 2 flappers that need to be pushed open. I had no issues. For the record, I used the same gas station, even the same pump. You have to be a bit careful not to let the handle touch the paint.

This could very well be the answer to all the problems that occur, owners aren't inserting the pump nozzle in far enough to get past the flap valve in the neck. Great catch.
I had the same problem. Held the first flap open and used a spotlight to see exactly where the gas nozzle should be pointed once inserted
and the angle it should be held at. Haven't had any trouble adding fuel since.
I usually get gas at Costco. They have that rubber part that must make contact to the car before the pump will start. If it loses contact the pump shuts off.
So I do two things. First I estimate the gallons still in the tank from the gas gauge so I have an idea how many gallons it should take to fill the tank. Then, I push and hold the nozzle in to make sure that the tank full will trip the pump vs the nozzle loosing contact with the filler tube.
Good tip VinnyP,, Although I have a C7 Stingray at times I have the same problem with the shutting off of the flow. Have tried several ways to do it. I looked in the C7 manual and did not see a pic like you posted but in a paragraph a sentence says "The filling nozzle must be fully inserted and latched prior to starting fuel flow." Don't understand the latched part. I use Top Tier at a Sunoco station near me. I don't top off the tank either and I'll bet the C7 and 8 with the capless system use the same type double flap for the fuel neck.
I have experienced this issue as well. I noticed at the Exxon I frequent they have two different nozzles at the pumps. One continuously shuts off no matter how I position the nozzle into the filling tube. The other nozzle work just fine. I am able to set the nozzle for continuous flow and leave it till full.

I came here to post this photo.
Not only does the nozzle need to be fully inserted, but the angle it's positioned is important. Do NOT lift up on the handle (which many owners may be doing so it doesn't rest on the paint). Instead, let it settle to wherever gravity takes it. I found that it's very close, but it doesn't touch the car body in most cases.
