After nearly 4 years, I FINALLY got my C8 Z06 and I absolutely love it. I've had it for about a month now. It definitely has its quirks, but like a good wife or girlfriend, you accept all the little quirks because it's beautiful and a lot of fun. One such quirk is that whenever I turn the car off, the seat and steering wheel properly adjust to the exit settings, but when I start the car back up, SOMETIMES the seat and steering wheel return to the memory settings, and sometimes they don't. When they don't, I have to hold down the memory button until they return to their proper positions.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, were you able to correct it, or was it just something you had to live with?
I have the same issue as you. People will tell you to push the start button with your foot off the brake and/or fasten your seatbelt before pressing the start button, which apparently solves the problem for them. I've tried both and mine still intermittently doesn't work.
No, you don't have to live with this "quirk".
Search my user name, I also had a seat memory/ easy exit retention issue.
There were a solid 20 responses, and the end result IMO.... the Key Fob...,., make sure you use Fob # 1 and program the memory with # 1.
Good luck

If you're not sure which FOB you have, look at the Corvette emblem on the FOB. Key #1 emblem is chrome looking while key #2 looks like carbon flash.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Interesting tip regarding the fob colors. When I picked up the car, I was under the impression that I was using fob #1 while fob #2 was in an envelope that I had never even opened until just now. The emblem on the fob I've been using does appear to be the carbon flash-looking one while the other is definitely more chrome-looking, so apparently I've been using fob #2 all along.
That said, every time I have programmed the memory settings, I have programmed the same exact settings for both positions 1 & 2, so in theory at least, you would think it wouldn't really matter which fob I'm using. I did try pushing the start button without putting my foot on the brake this afternoon and nothing happened. I haven't tried putting my seat belt on first before starting the car yet, but even if that did work, that would be a new habit I would have to adopt... LOL.
At worst, this is only a minor nuisance, but I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I did search the forum and it would seem that this is a fairly common issue. I've seen several people mention that they have also tried the brake and seat belt tricks with mixed results, so I can at least feel better that I'm not alone.
I have same issue since I got it 4 months ago. Sometimes works, sometimes not regardless what precautions I take. Also same issue w my Audi rs5. Ignore it and enjoy amazing car
First off I'm not doubting you. I am having the exact same problem. What concerns me is I did the museum delivery and I was told just the opposite. Black is #1 and chrome is #2! I printed the manual and tried to read most of it but tomorrow we will be rereading it. I hope matching the fob number with the memory number will cure the problem. Thanks.
Just FYI, I tried pushing the start button without my foot on the brake again this morning and that does appear to be properly adjusting the seat and steering wheel to the correct memory settings now.
My steering wheel always retracts and returns to the driving position but not the seat. It seems more prone to getting confused if I’m messing with the car…. Opening and closing doors, trunk, frunk…however I went into settings and turned off the memory features. Stopped and restarted the car and confirmed they were off. Then restarted the car and turned them back on. Everything has been good since then but we’re only a week in…

omfg I've been using the black emblem one this entire time and I just gave up on having the memory recall work. Going to try the other key and see if it works and I will reply confirming I'm a moron

You have plenty of company in the “moron brigade” I never owned a car (and I’ve owned a lot) where there actually is a #1 key that ties to the #1 save button in the car 🤦♂️ …. Until my C8.
And making one little emblem on the key chrome and the other little emblem on the other key gloss black and then you check the decoder manual to find out the chrome key is the 1 and the black key is the 2 key… 🤦♂️…. shoot me … please 🤣
I loved my SR and now my Z06 but if I have a criticism 🤔…. The cars are too complicated and sometimes seem to be over complicated just because they can…. The numbered keys using teeny chrome and black emblems to represent the number is just such an example.
