Default Programing Dash Graphics

Is it possible to change the graphical display of our dashes? we have different graphical displays for each driving mode and it would be amazing to be able to program a custom screen for my mode if not all of the screens- It seems it should be possible but I have not seen anyone discuss this or attempt it- what a product!

AFAIK, it would need to be rooted. And I don't think that's been done. That said, this is something I've said needs to be a factory-installed optional capability--for years. Allow owners to pick from an array of readouts, and pick how they want them displayed on the instrument cluster. It's all software, and it wouldn't be that hard. But this is the same GM that has put our ***** in a sling with Android Automotive being forced down our throats.

Yes, you can pick different tiles to be displayed and saved in different driving modes, but it is not unlimited choices. It is in the OM somewhere. I did mine long ago, but don't remember the process.

That is something I've suggested could be done--way back in 2008. GM just does not care to invest in the programming. And once that's programmed, it's a sunk cost--and applying it to future variants or other cars in the GM stable--is almost 0 cost.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of the new S650 (I do like the S550 a lot though) that is one feature that is quite cool. You can have not only the foxbody gauges, but also Cobra R, 1967 and others. This would be awesome on the Corvette. I would probably go for the C2 style.

GM has never met a software problem it didnt hate. They get dragged kicking and screaming toward innovation when it comes to display graphics / electronics. They outsource it all to vendors and if it doesnt "come in the box" they dont want to touch it.

Sure seems you could design the dashboard, make an app even that lets you drag and drop the different gauges with data to different parts of the screen.

I highly doubt they would let you upload your own movies etc. Imagine running a gauge thats a movie where its constantly at the speed limit even though you might not be going the speedlimit....

If anyone ever played any online games, anything user created quickly becomes an assortment of human appendages, or liknesses to it. I'm sure there would be **** on the dashes on vin 2 or 3

^ agreed.

But it would be fairly simple to expand the list of options for the gauge cluster to include different types of readouts (dial, linear, digital numeric, etc)--and to reorder and reorganize them according to user preference. You could even program a simple routine so that when any parameter is out of spec, that readout "balloons" on the display so that you notice it.

Background colors, gauge face colors, and numeric colors should be an easy thing to customize.
