Default Frunk latch not locking.

I have a 24 ZO6 When I disconnected the battery tender the frunk would not lock down.I tried opening and closing the doors started the car for a reset no help. I also noticed when walking away from the car the mirrors would not fold. And the frunk light will not light as well. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bob.

have you pushed the frunk open on the key fob? this should wake it up.
If this does not work, try disconnection the battery, leave for 10 minutes disconnected, then reconnect. this should hard reset the mech.

That’s one thing I really like about my ‘23. Front latch is all mechanical.

This is turning into a real problem. I disconnected the battery. for 30 minutes and reconnected the battery. The frunk still wont close. I start the car went around the block it will not go over 26 mph. I called my dealer and made an appointment. Now I am going to call chevy to see if they will pay for a tow truck. I have 17 miles to go to my chevy dealer. On the streets I see my self getting killed doing 26 mph in a zone of 45 mph. Has any body been through this ?

Yup...had to drive to the dealer at 26mph. Fortunately mine is a little closer. They replaced the latch. It still only recognizes it about half the time and does the self close, but the way it's adjusted now, I can push it closed the rest of the way if the automatic doesn't work. Really bad design and completely unnecessary.

You can push down on a 24 and not use the power pull down, I've manually latched mine before.

But, it’s just one less motor to break.

I think the power pull down on the frunk is a 100% waste of $$$$, I would MUCH rather have an emergency key cylinder for the rear hatch instead.

i had similar and I ended up pushing it manually closed. Next time I drove it, the frunk auto opening and electronic closing worked. It was frustrating and manually pushing it closed seemed to reset it.

Have and had similar issue. I've tried pushing down manually but didn't accept. I just open at the headlight and try closing again, it eventually closed after a few cycles.

Hey there, Bob. We regret to hear your frunk is giving you a hard time. This certainly poses a safety risk that we wouldn't want you driving to the dealer in. If you've already contacted one of our Customer Care Centers, please continue working with your case agent. If not, we encourage you to email our Social Media Customer Care Team at socialmedia@gm.com, using your forum username in the subject line. While no promises can be made, we are happy to look into possible tow reimbursement and any additional layer of support needed.

OP, I hope you get your issue resolved.

My 2024 had similar issues. After a few months of dealing with it, sometimes working and sometimes not, it works every time now. I lower the frunk manually until gravity takes over and it falls. It works every time now.

I always had to “wake my car up” before closing the frunk or the power latch wouldn’t activate. When it doesn’t activate you can manually push the hood down and it will latch closed.

To avoid this I lock and unlock the car with the remote before closing the hood. The power latch always works if I wake the car up first. But you can close it manually.

The trunk soft close works so well, the frunk not so much. You would think they would be the same.

it’s strange… like my memory seat and wheel settings. Sometimes they activate as expected and sometimes they don’t… best I can determine is that it has something to do with what doors or hatch is opened before the drivers door…. If I open and close the rear hatch before opening the drivers door the memory seat sometimes fails. If I just get in and go it usually works. I verified the fob etc…

Between the memory function that sometimes forgets…. And the motorized frunk latch that won’t latch if you don’t wake up the car first… I think the software gets confused easily.

I have seen several blurbs on the C8 “next level architecture” whatever the hell that means but it’s supposed to be a new level of technology and complexity. The saddest thing to me is I don’t think there will be C8 Z06’s in collections 50 years from now like a 63 is today because half or more of the electronics will go end of life in ten years never mind 50 and when last time buys run dry the car will be unrepairable….. at any cost. This is already happening to Cadillac’s that are less than 20 years old. Porsche makes sure it can repair what it sells. GM nope.

Progress. My soon to go bye bye '23 MB S class has all these hand waving activations. You supposedly can open the sun roof with a wave which seems to only work by accident. Heaven forbid I should wear myself out pushing a button. Luckily my vette is a 23 and I still don't understand why an engineer would think I need mechanical help closing the rear hatch or electric door handles. Not 1 of these features helps me go faster at the track. Technology and gizmos gone amok. At my age it feels akin to yelling at the young whippersnappers to get off my lawn.

I feel the same way… the motorized EVERYTHING is ridiculous. Twenty years ago most of what’s now “standard” would be considered a waste of money…

Off the top of my head….
-electronic door handles with separate interior and exterior switches….
-power folding mirrors… considering the side mirrors are on long arms that do not fold in….
-power front hatch self closing latch…
-power rear hatch self closing latch…
-separate memory seat and wheel exit position….
-memory seat and wheel tied to a specific key fob
-rear view mirror as a camera (prefer this was optional because I can’t use it)

Considering weight is the enemy of performance and the Z06 purpose…. All these electronic features but you can’t get a simple onboard Nav system.

You mentioned your MB S class…. I have a C class AMG coupe. A C class… and it has a power closing trunk? Like power rear hatches on SUV’s… if I can reach the button to activate the closing mechanism… that works with the power latch mechanism… I could just pull the trunk closed myself and saved $500 off the price of the car.
