Default Z07 launch settings

I’m new here and this is my first post, so forgive me if i’m asking something that has a thread already. I’ve got a 2026 Black Z07 and looking for the best settings for 0-60 and 0-100 times. This car is an incredible beast and so much fun to drive. What PTM settings, or competitive driving mode, auto launch settings or custom. 3500-4000rpm with 10% slip or less slip.

Hello Rifleman. I am new here too, and relatively new to the C8Z06; still learning how to drive this car. I also have a black Z, I bought my new 2024 in 2/2025 with the satin graphite wheels and love the look! I replaced the boomerang, front lip, wicker bill spoiler, and rocker panels with carbon fiber, and windows tinted since the pic below.

I had a blade silver C7 Z06 with carbon fiber hood before this, and the C8 drives much differently. Fun in it's own way, but I did like the immediacy of the torque in my 2016 Z. I had tracked my C7Z when I had it. I hope to do the same with the newZ.

I believe I am discovering some drive modes that is helping with the sluggishness perceived at lower RPMs in the new Z. I have set my Z mode to sport suspension, steering, braking, and track engine, exhaust. The sound is awesome! It does make my ears ring a little because of hearing damage I sustained from a bear hunt few years ago, but it's worth it! Ha.

I have been disappointed at the lag I've felt below 4500rpm and at launch during street driving from my Z mode with no other adjustments. In mine, the PTM settings cannot be used except from a track suspension setting. It sounds like track suspension is supposed to be reserved for actual track days because it may be too harsh for daily/street driving (ie. suspension/wheel damage on poorly maintained roads?). Maybe someone can chime in on this, I'm getting mixed signals from various sources.

That being said, I'm learning that if one drives in PTM settings of sport 1 or sport 2 while in track suspension setting, it modulates the torque/throttle responses and TC/ESC interventions. The PTM settings are an advanced traction mgmt suite with custom engine torque delivery, traction thresholds, stability/yaw control, and torque vectoring via electronic brake regulation. Supposedly the feel is more immediate throttle inputs available. However, the trade off is some slip that must be controlled by the driver. Not too big a deal with proper experience. I have not experimented with this yet, but will be in coming days.

If one prefers to stay in sport suspension setting during street driving (like me for now), it seems a different TC/ESC intervention setting is achieved by double tap on TC button that puts you in "competitive" mode. That is, TC loosened and ESC still active. It sounds like it is not as advanced a traction mgmt suite like PTM, but does make better throttle response available. I have played with this and there is much better launch and acceleration below 4500rpm. A long press on TC button deactivates TC and ESC. I imaging this would require advanced driver inputs to manage wheel slip and fishtailing under hard acceleration. So far, the Competitive mode has been very manageable.

It sounds like Competitive mode gives greater acceleration because it does not regulate torque delivery like the PTM sport modes. Again I haven't experimented with PTM on street driving yet so I don't have a feel comparison. I have been happy with the improvement in throttle response from Competitive mode thus far.

Hope this helps!

That’s what i’m gathering the more i play with the car which is the fun part. But weather and track conditions haven’t been too hot. Launching in sport seems to be smoother with less wheel hop. So far 3500-4000 rpm with 8-10% slip has done the best so far. But i’m positive that i’m still not doing or putting the car in the best settings. The PTM modes are only for tracks, that’s where all the breaking and acceleration is run through computer settings and tunes. Learning about this car is the fun part but i’m ready for the cheat code to tell me everything i need to know for every situation lol. I’ve wanted a Corvette for 45 years or more and finally got my first, it won’t be my last either! I would like to find a C7 Z06 and put twin turbos on with manual transmission if there was a good option

Both you guys have great looking C8s! That is the problem with the Black Zs, once you see it on the floor it looks so nice you want to take it home!!

Yes, thanks. Y'all too! Glad you finally go into a vette, Rifleman! I haven't tried full launch control take offs yet. I imagine I will experiment with that soon. I loved my blade silver C7Z, was so easy and fun to drive quick and fast. I just kept it in sport mode and it was perfect, never needed to mess with TC unless I was on the track. It was a manual tranny, was tough to give that up and go to the paddle shift C8Z. The black C8Z is an eye catcher! It is a different beast driving. I drive in manual mode exclusively. I have tried driving in D a couple times, seems my shift queues in M are the same as the shift points in D from track mode. The C8Z definitely requires more settings and button pushes to get to a fun street driving mode. Nothing wrong with that, just different. My first vette was a 1971 base model with FE7 suspension that was my daily for 10 years. It got me hooked!

My first was also a 1971 Stingray too that got me for life and now 40 years later and many - many Vettes, I road race at all the big tracks on the East coast and drive a 2024 black Z06 for street duty. Rifelman there are 2 ways to use launch mode, it should be listed in the owner's manual. I forgot how but can tell you after going out to the Ron Fellows school these cars can take using the launch mode day after day! At the school the Z06's are launched multiple times a week month after month and it's a blast that can easily be used at a stop light!

The Z07 launch is the same as the Z06.

For street I use z mode setup with race 1 and 4500 rpms and 10% slip. It usually yields 2.6 0-60.

good luck and report back.

4000 rpm 8.5% slip has worked best for me on the street with it in sport mode click TC twice to get into competitive mode. Also the time reader on the dash is worthless a 2.6 is really a 3.1 to 3.2 on a dragy. I've tried 5% 6% 4000rpm and 3500 rpm at those % never had any luck. I tried a higher % like dragtimes showed in his ZR1 launching videos (13% 4000) and it felt like my car was going to break like it was wheel hopping.

I've prolly done LC atleast 50-60 times at various rpm and slip %. Your Z07 package with the better tires (pending temps outside) with spoiler i wouldnt be surprised if you could get more aggressive on the launch on the street than my non z07 car
