Chevrolet makes an iconic FPC rear engine missile, and half the **** I have to read about is how it’s not great to drive around town because it only has 460 lb-ft or torque. “Wah wah unless I’m above 6,500 rpms, I’d rather be in a Miata.” When the hell did we become so ******* spoiled? 670hp screaming to 8,500 rpms just doesn’t do it for your little tushy meter? **** off. You want to sell your z06 for a grand sport so your buns feel better at 34% throttle in second gear rolling from a stop light? Great…do it, and keep it to yourself.
The grand sport is awesome. The ZR1 is awesome. The stingray is awesome. The fact GM made this car at the price point is silly. I’m so ******* sick of reading this crap. GM has now officially satisfied every crybaby in the community…so please stop crying. Well except the manual crybabies.
if you can’t get behind the wheel of this car and raise your heart rate, your driving is the problem.
sorry, guess I should have changed my filter at 3,250 miles to avoid this issue.
Ha ha well said. I love my new C8z but understand it isn't for everyone and I actually prefer it that way. I dont want it to be as common as the average mustang. I still prefer a manual always but I kept the C7z to scratch that itch. Let the whiners whine, love the car as is.
We understand your frustration: many people confuse everyday use with the philosophy of a car like the Z06. It's not a car made for cruising at low revs in the city, but for delivering its thrills when you let it breathe at higher revs. The relative lack of low-end torque is a design choice, not a flaw, and it's part of its character.

Agree…but I mean 450-500 lb-ft of torque isn’t nothing. People act like it’s not there and it’s just comical. I wasn’t complaining about torque in my old C5z. All I’m saying is that it’s actually amazing they’ll sell any of these things to the public and the amount of whining just amazes me
Anyone complaining about low end torque just needs to put their damn foot down further or buy a pedal commander thing if you want 20% throttle to equal 35% throttle or whatever.
Driven enough miles in standard C8 and I can tell you at no point did I ever think it was better car than my Z06 in anyway, shape, or form.
I had a C7Z and still have a C6ZR1, which I consider the best Corvette ever! The C8Z06 checks new boxes, and all the other boxes of those that came before it. It’s just as exhilarating to drive as the no nonsense, pure analog, C6ZR1. Now, it’s a totally different way of getting that feeling, but exactly the same result. I’ve had nothing but huge torque, supercharged cars prior, and I don’t drive my Z06 and think, this car is under powered. It’s fast and it’s f*^%n awesome. It’s an experience few cars can deliver. Just my 2c
I could be wrong but I think the problem is that many rushed to buy the Z06 initially because it was "the" Corvette to have. They then threw it in drive and left it in tour when they got it and expected it to move around and cruise like all the other Corvettes that came before it....thing is, it is totally different from every corvette that came before it. I think that's where the idea it lacks torque comes from. It is definitely not for the traditional Corvette buyer. Someone really has to know and appreciate the character of the LT6 and this car overall to be able to appreciate it. 450 or so torque is not an insignificant number at all...the speedometer definitely shoots toward 100mph faster than it feels like it is but 8600 RPM is a unique experience. I think there's nothing like it on this end of 200K for a new car and I love it for that very reason.
Someone else commented on buying one of those throttle controllers and I think that would probably address some people's concerns with it since it definitely requires more throttle input when the engine and transmission are not in sport/track. The engine definitely isn't lacking in HP or torque IMO so it just feels like an issue of perception to me. I think back to the days of when 450 HP was a big number and I now have 670....electric family cars have near or more than 1000...we're just spoiled nowadays.
HA! You're preaching to the choir buddy. I've listened to people bad mouth the in-town driveability of the Z for years. Pussies. Yeah, I've got a stingray but I've been looking to switch it out for quite a while. Just haven't found the right car yet.

I'm just as happy driving it on my commute to work (9 miles of traffic lights and a 45mph max speed limit) as I am ripping it on some twisty back roads or cruising the interstate. The cold start never gets old and always turns heads.
The sad truth is that the vast majority of folks that buy these cars, from the stingray on up.
Have no idea what they are really driving. The performance of all these cars is truly amazing.
I'm as content taking my wife to dinner at 30-40 mph as I am doing laps at the Glen or Lime Rock.
