Radar / Laser
Thanks!

I was in Electronic Warfare in the Navy and worked my entire career on electromagnetic effects and have followed the development of radar and laser detection systems for cars since they first appeared.
These sites seems to have pretty good information,

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I'm running latest Gen Valentine with Blend Mount and mirror tap: good results on all my vehicles since '98 C5.
No battery drain (only on with Accessory Mode or engine running) nor other electrical issues.
P.S. Had my C7 ZR1 stolen (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ztk-coupe.html ); I recommend hidden immobilizer with built-in battery back-up (I have DroneMobile X2Max on my Z06 and S63) and/or Soler Performance Throttle Controller with throttle lock-out feature to keep your ride and avoid insurance hassles. These should be able to be installed with your jammers. OnStar useless for theft prevention/recovery!
Good luck!
Thanks!
I ran Escort Radar detectors for 20+ years, but switched to Uniden about 6 years ago because side by side testing shows them to have higher sensitivity / detection range than Escort products. Valentine also shows results similar to Uniden, but at a higher price point and an unfinished / cheap looking product.
I run Uniden R4's in my Corvette and my commuter car (Blazer EV). The sensitivity of the R4 is the same as the double-priced Uniden R8. The R8 has forward and rearward facing detectors to give you direction arrows for the signal. The R4 uses a single detector, so no directional arrows, but it is the same detector as in the R8. So the R4 gives you the same sensitivity without the price. And I see the arrows as a gimmick rather than a tool. When it goes off, I immediately brake by the sound before ever looking at the detector.
Also note that with Laser detectors, when the laser specific sound cue goes off, the cop already has a speed reading on you, a fraction of a second before you heard the sound. With Ka radar detection, you get a notice a mile or more away from the radar gun, long before the cop has ever pointed it at you.
When it comes to mount style and position, I don't like blend mounts. They obstruct part of my field of view. I'm tall and the blend mount hangs down low. So I use the free, included, vacuum mount and put it in a spot that mostly hides it behind the mirror. I rely on the sound cue rather than the visual. And if I move my head to the right by a few inches, I can see the radar detector screen entirely.
For power, I use these cheap wire taps.
You just pop the cap off of the back of your mirror with a trim pry-tool.
Then you jam the wire blade into the power block on the back of your mirror. Red goes into red. Black goes into black. It only turns on when the ignition is on.
Overall it is very sleek, costs $11 total and doesn't obstruct your view.
