That is true! I would take a Ford GT given to me over a Porsche 911 GT3, I say given, because I cannot afford them, however a C8 Z06 HTC 2 or 3 LT I can, especially since my 2020 C8 2LT Z51 Coupe is paid for and will be paying for a large portion of the Z06.

Ok, then substitute Porsche in to meet your criteria. "It's just a Volkswagen".

The point is, in some people's eyes, no matter how good the car is, they grasp for straws to try to knock it. Hence the "it's just a Chevy" talking point.

Not a chance due to heavy battery weight. The lap times may be slower on the eRay than the Stingray.

The Ford GT has a carbon tub, doesn’t share the platform with a $65k base model, and isn’t pumped out on an assembly line. The Ford GT is a true exotic unlike any variant of the Corvette. Not exactly apples to apples.

I’d love to see what team Corvette could come up with if allowed to deliver a truly bespoke car at a similar budget.

When a car is so highly anticipated that wait lists a years long, it is clear that the price (or expected price) is much lower than the expected value of the car. Hence the ability of dealers to charge a large markup and still sell the vehicle.

As people have said, it’s simple supply and demand. GM could improve things by building 3X as many Z06’s three times as quickly, but that’s probably not possible given the engine design. Therefore, they have the ability to increase the price, get a better return on their investment, and have more money available for future development. The alternative would be to keep the price lower and have the dealers charge a higher markup. Either way, the seller will try to find the maximum selling price that still allows them to sell the car. As long as the demand is there and the supply is limited, the pricing will reflect that.

What VW do you see what you see a 911? No one is confusing a GT3RS with any VW.
Most any non-car enthusiast (and probably non-corvette enthusiast) will not recognize a $160k Z07 as being much different than a $60k Stingray.

agreed, glad I’m a ways back and see how this plays out. If I had to pony up right now I probabaly would, and then probably sell it.
Hopefully I can keep it when I’m up😀

Ford doesn’t even make it, Multimatic does.
