[QUOTE=19/C7Z;1605915515]he bought it. They didn't give it to him.
But it will be tough for this 22yo old wise man given his vast experience in life and what not to critique the car in any way because GM put him first.
Of course "he bought it"! I apologize I didn't word it correctly.
A lot of guys just hang on here just to correct peoples post.
Someone says I ordered a car, he's excited! ! Someone on here immediately says you didn't do anything your just at 1100!
I think he can critique the car just fine! He has had multiple high performance car and is a solid driver!
He drives the cars day in and out! Not some magazine guy that gets the car for a few hours.

Glad a guy who's going to due quantitative analysis on it got it first so we can see what to expect. Not just doing burn outs and drone shots. Can't wait to see him on the track in the next week or so.

The only reason I can construe that I'd be even remotely irritated by it, is if they jumped the line, per se. If they were simply early allocations and they had legitimately had their names on the list before seemingly everyone else, then that's smart on their part to predict the hype and plan accordingly. If GM pulled strings for them to jump ahead of others, then I'm less inclined to be enthused by them getting allocations early. If they wanted to simply let YouTubers review the car wholly and completely, then just have a few press cars instead.

I don't see it as GM pulling strings, rather GM investing early allocations into cars they know will give them free advertising and a large audience they would not otherwise have. What makes more sense? give an early allocation to a car that will be seen all over the internet and get real world test data, or to some collector whos going to stuff it in his garage and probably never drive the thing because its "one of the first"? From GM's perspective these influencers are going to put that car in front of a different audience than the typical Corvette buyer. No not all of that audience is in a position to buy the car now, but GM is playing a long game. They want to keep selling Corvettes 10 years from now. They know the average Corvette buyer is nearing their golden years and they have to expand their marketing to a younger generation. The best way to do that is through free advertising via youtube, tiktok, instagram, and the like. The early allocation to the influencer cost GM nothing but gains them tons in hype and future revenue. It keeps Corvette going for generations to come.

Austin--SpeedPhenom--is a great person to have gotten one of the first Z06/Z07 deliveries as he actually will use the car as intended. I have 9500 miles on my c8 with most all track miles. He is actually going to track the Z06 vs most others. I believe GM saw this and realized from the advertising perspective this will get them the most bang for the buck (about 0 bucks) so to speak. I am excited to see every video he does since I track all over the country and am/will learn from the comparison and contrasting of the c8 stingray to the c8 z06/z07 (and he has had 2 c8s and now a c8 z06/z07). And for an old guy like me I truly am excited to see a young guy with his enthusiasm.

It’s nice and all. I’ll probably take mine when my turn comes up but no not as impressive as was first imagined. Especially for the price. Yes compared to the huracan spyder I was going to order it’s still a bargain but not what we had hoped. That said the car that will be impressive albeit with a very impressive price tag as well will be the zr1. Will be everything this car is but amped up and with the crazy power to back it up in all situations. That car won’t have to hide behind well It’s built for the track nonsense. It will excel in every category. But it’s going to be 200k + car.

IMHO, the Z06 has been oversold already with people getting all excited because of the sound. So far from what I have seen too many people got on lists they may not be able to afford the car or it really is to much of a track oriented car. But the reality is this is a high revving car made for the track. If one thinks the Z06 is going to be fun driving in the low rev range they have another thing coming. Probably for most people the C8 Stingray is a better choice--Certainly dollar for dollar. Yes I can't wait for my Z06/Z07 but I hope the production cycle is long enough to be able to get the car especially since I will exclusively use it for the track.
Maybe GM is trying to properly set expectations of the Z06 since I believe many people have unrealistic expectations of what the car actually is.

Hartford and Mike really don't track the car as intended. Maybe GM really wants to showcase the sweet spot of the car? Just a thought.

Yep I think GM saw the advantage to letting Austin get the car, and thats why he got an early build. They knew it would get used how intended for all to see. Shoot he wasted no time. They knew Hartford would likely break it trying to mod it and that would be a bad look, and Mike would just try to jump a Raptor over it or something stupid for click bait. Smart choice if you ask me

What I want to know is how are people, coming from c7 z06’s stock/modded whatever, feeling about the purchase when comparing one vs the other on the street. Also interested in those who track but nite as much since I only street drive right now. Is it with the extra money? Is it better? If so how much better? Price aside. Then of course comparing the dollars and sense perspective. Taken all into account is it worth it? Since I won’t be able like most people to drive one to compare the differences. Again taking into amount street driving.
