This topic was briefly discussed on a previous thread about a month ago ,but i thought i would follow up on it.
Just wondering if anybody has successfully obtained a U.S. Sirius subscription so they can get Howard ? It's still not clear to me whether you can put a U.S. Subscription on a Canadian bought radio .
Also i haven't heard if there are any problems with reception.
I know you need a U.S. address but i have no relatives down there and i really don't want to rent a P.O. box just for that purpose.
You need to purchase an american unit. The Canadian units are registered to Sirius Canada (You have to give them the serial number of the unit when registering.)
It is actually quite easy to complete the registration online and you can use any American address because they do not actually send you a bill each month.
Reception is no different then if you were to use a Canadian receiving because they run off the same two Sats.
There has been talk about the lack of reception in places like downtown where they use repeaters to up the signal around highrises but my buddy hasn't said anything bad about it and he lives in the heart of the city.
Your biggest problem will be getting an american reciever, after that its not that hard but they may in the future restrict the use of Canadian Credit cards on the American service.
Go on this website you should get all your answers on there. It is a forum and a couple of guys have American units with American p.o box #'s. They have had zero issues.
my fiancee does the hookups for sirius canada.they don't care about the adress, just the credit card info.
she had an adress from "55 four wheel drive"you name a street, real or not, have a good card, and your in. when you transfer to canadian sirius, just tell them the right adress.
