I'd have to say that 'generally' driver's who buy Z06's aren't too concerned about fuel prices?

My C6 Z gets almost 30 mpg if I baby it. My C5 Z will get 30. Whats wrong with that..? About the same as my daughters Toyota but way nicer to drive!

An increase in the price of gasoline affects everyone... including people who don't even own a car. After all, it's not like our food and other consumables float to our cities on wind powered barges.
I work from home but I can still feel the pinch at the pumps. Not a great thing for us Calgarians who are already hit with some of the highest inflation rates in the country.

In days gone by I owned a late 80's early 90's Cadillac Fleetwood - about 35' long and weighed more then a sherman tank. Computer said avg fuel economy was 11.1 L/100 K.
My wifes 07 Saturn Aura gets an amazing 11.1 L/100 K and my 98 Coupe showed an avg of 12.1 L/100 K - but that was after I first bought it and had issues keeping the tach below 5k. Now that I am over that - well not really, but I am trying to get better - the milage has come down. I reset my computer for the Camp day run and I think my avg was around 10.
I remember hearing a news report a while back that noted that since the last mandated fuel milage improvement in the early 80's most engines have stayed about the same.
Does anyone remember a Honda Civic a few years back that came out with their first new VTECH engine and it got huge milage?? Then they cancelled it and their current VTECH engine is the same as everyone elses.
You can't tell me in a world where knowledge doubles every 2 to 5 years that we haven't found a way to make a more fuel efficient engine and not force engines into sub 100hp at the same time!!
I wonder how much oil money goes into the auto industry??? hmmmm....
