Iam shocked as well, and so everyone he was no doubt a great man, i talked to him many times, but i can never forget his smile when me and him saw this maserati and i gotta tell this man has crazy smile, and literally he pulled me see interior and engine,.
I prolly can never forget his last meeting at AMC, our talk was last more than half hr, and infact he told me his wife has hip surgery and has great difficulty in walking otherwise he could have bring her to shows.
Bill what can i say, ur dream of owning a ZR1 remained a dream but i pray that god give u place in heaven and rest in peace, u r were a great person and will be remembered for a long time in our hearts man.
Iam sad really sad, closest person who passed away on forum i have seen and its sad, thinking how fragile our body and so many things to do and so lttle time.

I didn't know Bill but my sympathies go out to those who have posted tonight and the many who obviously cared for and respected this man a great deal.
For those like me who never had the opportunity (and good fortune) to know the man, could someone share a little of who he was and what he was known for?

I also, did not know Smook, but read many, many posts that he did and threads he started. I know he was close to getting the ZR1 he wanted so badly. This is such a terrible reminder that life is indeed, much, much too short. Don't take things for granted, hug your wife and kids, enjoy your pets and hobbies...enjoy the short summers and the long winters......unfortunately, everything ends, and for some, like Bill, much, much too soon.

Couple pictures of Bill, one taken at a Rennlist meeting, followed by my son. He seemed to always gravitate towards Bill at the gtg's. The other was taken at the Exotic Cruise.
Smook, you will be missed.

We always had a running joke about how many vette's he'd buy this year. A number of years ago he said something that I now hauntingly recall - he said "the reason I keep buying the newest ones is that I am at a stage where I am no longer burying my friends parents but now my friends as well so might as well enjoy it while I can". God bless buddy and prayers to your family.

Smook
Wow, this is hard to believe. From the couple of times I had met smook at the get togethers my impression was he was a great individual. Always looked forward to see what new acquisition Bill had made. RIP Smook.

I am not usually at a loss for words however I am now....
I can't believe this.......we e-mailed each other just a few weeks ago.
I will cherish my time with Bill and being pictured with him the photo above brings back some great memories that I will always remember.
Bill, you will be missed but NEVER forgotten by all of us Corvette owners who have had the pleasure of your friendship over the years.
I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Smook family.

Smook
My deepest sympathies to Bill's family. This comes as a total shock. As others have said I knew Bill though the Corvette forum. And whenever we met he always had an interest in the personal aspects and then the cars. We will all remember and miss him. Again my prayers and condolences to the Smook family. Jim

Oh my goodness - Bill was the Vette-buying-crazy amongst us - he loved these cars so much and wanted to own as many as he could including a ZR1 he was hunting for. I was so envious of him.

Wow, I still can't believe this. Bill was always full of life and full of stories. I always loved talking to him and it wasn't always just about cars. I agree with Patman and I too was always was glad when Bill was at the GTGs on Saturdays and I was happy this season when he started coming out on more cruises as he usually never came on many. I know he loved coming out with us and I just saw him on the exotics cruise on the weekend, he was like a kid in a candy store.
Bill I will miss you and my deepest condolences to your family.
Life is short, enjoy it while we're here.
