Default Bought One!

Sorry I couldn't post this last Wednesday, I've been very busy due to starting a new project last Monday but I put down the money for a 2006 Velocity Yellow convertible (black top) with the A6 and 3LT ($32,870 US). I probably wont have my first drive until Tuesday, Oct. 6. Therefore I predict "solid rain" the morning of Oct. 7.

Only one after-market modification and it is a Corsa exhaust. I'm not too sure about this exhaust, I'll see what I think once I get my hands on the car. If its too loud I will replace it.

The car has a front license plate frame. I have no idea what it takes to remove this but I'll search the forum for an answer over the next few weeks. This forum has ALL the answers, thanks again to the fantastic membership!

I have never been crazy for any factory GM rims so I will replace the stock units over the winter. I lean toward the color-matched style but I have no idea where I'll get them, how much they cost or if they can stand up to daily driving. Some opinions on the durability from you guys and ladies would be very helpful.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I can.

I expect I wont be able to post/reply until next weekend. Again this is because I am working a thirteen hour day. So my new routine is a beer (after a drive...), a bite (before my next ride...) then bed (sleeping in the driver's bucket...) for the next year or so. Oh well, only about four years of projects until early retirement!

You could always sell the Corsa and get something else. The GM NPP exhaust might be good for you. I'm not sure what they are being sold used for but still...

As for the license plate, when I upgrade to a C6 I will get one of these for it (have one on my C5)...

Congratulations!

I had the Corsa Touring and removed it and now just have the sport. I do like them but the 2007 didn't have the NPP which I would have gotten. I know there is a conversion kit that makes NPP work and I have thought about putting that on. I have the mild to wild on the Z06 and it is great!

All that said, the Corsa Sport doesn’t drone unless you run the motor at 1500 - 1800 RPM. On the highway doing 120 – 130 km there is no drone as the motor is at 2000 RPM or higher. Running at 100 km keep it in 5th and zero drone (again, 2000 rpm). All aftermarket exhaust will drone at the magic 1500 - 1800 RPM. The Corsa touring will only slightly drone, and of course with the stock cans there is no drone.

The corsa exhaust has a slightly higher pitch or note and that's why they don't have a drone issue like other exhaust systems.

As for Rims the HRE's are the best and certainly cost the most but they are excellent wheels. Davenport (403-274-7271) sell them here.

Bill

Default Okay, I've got it home.

I've had it since last Friday and put on a couple of hundred klicks right away. I tried to post earlier but my connection failed inthe middle of a long post. Anyway my first possitive impressions are:

Looks great in yellow. The people that knew what I was up too were pretty hesitant about the yellow but it's definitely a winner with the black convertible top and (future) black trim. I've converted many skeptics.

Lots of power and it should destroy a certain 350Z in the extended side of the family.

The OEM rims; what can I say, these are probably the first GM wheels I can tolerate. The color matched units may wait until I need new shoes. That means new rims and tires about the end of May 2010!

Comfortable ride for a sports car. I need the lumbar controls in the worst way. I like the seating so much I've even been taking my meals in the car...while it's parked in the garage.

Handling, well what can I add to this topic?.

Lights are I believe the xenon type and they're great.

Sound system, Bose is probably one of the last home systems I'd get but I really like what I have in the car.

Oh, I love the Corsa exhaust. Nice burble on the down shift and barks when I stand on it. I don't know if this is the tour or sport exhaust but I'll check into it over the winter. Anyway the Corsa is a keeper.

On the negative side:

WARNING!!! The clear bra sucks. I can see a dark line all around the edge of the tape. This may not be an issue with dark painted cars but on yellow (or white) it is very obvious. I already started to peel it off and doing so makes me hate the stuff even more. I'll be looking into a black nylon bra very soon. Black bras.....mmmm.

Yup, the navigation system is the weak link. I'll live with it as is until I need a stereo upgrade.

The #1 FOB never arrived. I don't expect to get either. I'll wait one more week for a reply from the previous owner then order one from GM.

I have to thank all the members here once again. I have learned so much from the forum and I'm sure that I will learn lots more. You're great. Really.

Sincerely,
Dick Billows

Good job in taking possession and making some assessments after you have had a chance to try them.

My bet is that your Corsa is the touring model, pace is mich sharper.

you're got yourself cool ride, enjoy..........

your brother-in-law with the 350Z is smoked...........

Default Vetster, you nailed it!

My brother-in-law will wet himself when I start it. It even starts with a bark! The only stick in the 350Z is the one connected to the tranny.

luvchevs - 62000 kilometers. It was a little more mileage than what I was looking for but I am not worried about the drive-line. It's the electronic doo-dads that have me a bit concerned but I guess that's what warranty is for.

The weather has been snow for the last three days but starting tomorrow we'll be up to 7 degreees C. with a high of 15 on Saturday. I bet my daughter will have the top down. A good photo opportunity, for sure.
