We would be better off making everything based of internet voting and let everyone have a say by allowing them to vote for each stupid bill they want in.

Why would you be paying more?
Pick a dollar item; $1 plus 8% for PST and 5% for GST = $1.13
Or, $1 plus 13% HST still = $1.13
Now I have heard that some items that were PST exempt are now being included in the HST, so yes, those items will go up by 8%, but what are they? My understanding is they're pretty rare out your way.

I own my own IT consulting firm (really it's just me as a sole proprietorship). Because I only offer a service and do not sell product, I don't have to charge PST, only GST. Now that's going to change.
When you go buy a house, you will now have to pay PST. That's a really big hit.
Used cars will now get charged with both.
There's going to be lots of double charging.

In general, a single sales tax rate of 13% would apply to all goods and services that are currently subject to GST.

Service industry would take a hit. So would real estate and private used car sales.

They created this new tax to help pay for the bailouts and the large stimulus packages that put Ontario in this big red hole we're in. Someone has to pay and as usual, it's the citizens.

I think we need to get rid of the whole system. Screw voting for people that don't keep promises and have the ability to screw with our daily lifes by making decisions none of us want. With all the pay freezes and gas increases this new bill is stupid. It a direct pay cut when you know our Employers are not going to increase our pay to make up for it.
We would be better off making everything based of internet voting and let everyone have a say by allowing them to vote for each stupid bill they want in.

I really call into questions for the Governments motivation for going through this process ... which I think will lead to the destruction of the Liberal Party in the next election.
Business was not screaming to have the two taxes merged, were they? Yet that is the reason the Governement keeps bringing up ... "Oh, it will streamline tax collection for business, and lower costs!"
Not really a huge issue for my business ... accept that the governement use to give business a small credit, to offset our costs for collecting their tax money ... now that may be gone!
The real impact on my business will be consumers not having as much disposable income as they had before.
They announced a couple of days ago, that the $4.00 exemption for for necessary food items will remain in place ... that is a small victory for Consumers!
Hopefully everyone will remember what this government has put our province through ... and they will vote PC in the next election.

That's what I want to do every time I think of this subject. Our governments are addicted to $cash$ and are coming up with more and more ways of taking our money - when are they going to get their spending under control !!
I don't think I'll ever stop ranting about this!!

It doesn't matter who's in power, the opposition always critisizes and points fingers at the other. This has been proven in every level of government, and it has occurred with every party in power.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it until the end:
"POLITICIANS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN PEOPLE WITH A LICENCE TO STEAL MONEY!"
