My 17 year old daughter actually participated in the Markham festivities this past thursday, as part of the youth council she's on...she held the torch for a few moments and said it was a thrill of a lifetime...
Carol and I went out Yesterday morning at 6:30 am to watch the Torch parade pass through Georgetown.
It was a very unique and patriotic event. Was worth every freezing shivering moment.
"GO CANADA GO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOMEONE WAVED A CANADIAN FLAG RIGHT IN FRONT Of ME JUST AS I TOOK THE SHOT

Sue's boss was actually one of the Torch bearers in Oakville yesterday...went down around 2:00 to cheer her on and actually got to hold the torch for a bit (before it was lit) I agree with Mark...very patriotic moment. Great to see Canadians embracing this torch run and the whole Olympic movement
I live in Vancouver, so will be going to some of the events. Unfortunately, will not go to any Team Canada hockey games. Can't believe its already here. I remember the day Vancouver was awarded the games. Time flies.

Reason: add info
I heard Hazel McCallion(Mayor of Mississauga, 88 years old) ran the 400 meters she had it....
For the third day in a row, Canadians lined GTA streets to catch a glimpse of the Olympic Torch as it passed through southern Ontario.
Leafs GM Brian Burke stepped out from behind the bench today, carrying the flame through Etobicoke.
And crowds of supporters cheered on Mayor Hazel McCallion as she carried the torch in Mississauga. The 88-year-old jogged the standard 400 metres before passing the flame to the next torchbearer.
"This is a very, very special privilege. I'm such a proud Canadian today. O Canada!" she said.
On Sunday, the torch will make its way from Hamilton to Niagara Falls, via St. Catharines.

"Quick fact, wife said that the runners have to buy their own torch at a cost of $350 each."
Tell your wife she is wrong again, runners CAN buy the torch if they want, they don't have to.
I love the olympics the tax payers shovel unknown amounts of money into the black hole known as the olympics so that huge corporations can make tons of money and over paid athletes can do the same and in Canada it gave the government an excuse to pass a law that trumps freedom of speech.
my cousin was the person at GM Canada responsible for organising all their stuff for the event,, he carried the torch in Oshawa on HWY 2 right where he grew up..

Coke bought the torches for their runners...RBC is too cheap.
